Not so sure if I have misunderstood some aspects of keto, but

#1

I tell my side of situation first.

January: I started the experiment phase of keto lifestyle(as in, play-play kind) to see if it is practical and sustainable, and this experiment is planned to end at February(accurately, 15 February, as it is Chinese New Year) My feeling towards and at that time? Although the diet is quite restricting, it seems sustainable. I think I am okay with it, although most of the time I am forced to starve myself as I am not exactly around the keto-friendly food. At least hungry till I managed to buy. The note to myself at that time? I need to make some keto cookie to carry with, so that when I was hungry and not able to buy some proper food yet, I can eat the cookie to suppress the hunger first.
February(after 15 Feb, till Mid of March): I stop for awhile as that was just the experiment phase.
March(till end of March): I started again, but after a failure at Starbucks, I… maybe I put it this way: I force myself to keep calm and keto on, but I decided not to give too much a f*ck to some aspects.
April: Still continuing

But actually I have been wondering some parts…
People said that I get slimmer in February, March and April.
Okay, I believed that when it is in February.
But March? I thought that I was simply anyhow eating(you know, Chinese New Year cookies are all carby, and on that time, my foods are all just as-per-normal).
I said first: I didn’t use scale to measure.(Simply because I was lazy to find it)

The only problem now is that I still have the belly/tummy. <_<

Added on: Even though I am in for sometime, I don’t feel any benefit at all. As in, nothing much special. It made me wonder if I was ever in ketosis at all.(I didn’t use any test strips yet. I just tried the best effort to eat the macro, as in, few carb, high fat, and some protein.)

6 weeks of lazy keto, then a big break, then a bit more keto isn’t likely to build any sustained keto benefits. I don’t know your age but if you are younger and not too metabolically deranged you may have less to gain from keto? Also, we don’t know how overweight you are.

The belly is the last place to lose weight from typically so even if you are losing, you might not feel it there. If you are going to stay lazy keto and not get more rigorous, then just KCKO and see what happens. If you want to get serious, tracking, measuring, planning etc. then there would be more data to explain what’s happening or not happening.

I know, I know… huh?

the problem is that lots of people said that I get slimmer even during the break time.
February: there are people saying that. I believed that.
March(the break time): there are also people saying that. I am like ā€œhuh?ā€
April: there are also people saying that. Erm…

but wait, 4-6 weeks should be enough to see some significant effect, right?

Anyway, my weight when I weighted around January: 72kg. (Please consider that I am actually Asian, neither American nor European, so don’t use their standard to judge me)

Ever since then, I never used any scale so far.

Should be but everyone is different and without knowing how lazy your keto was it’s impossible to tell. I eat out now and again and I try to be keto but some places and some friends make it hard… and think I’ve done well and then find that I probably had 80 carbs in hardly anything. To begin with it’s hard to be proper keto without tracking, etc.

Do you have any data on your metabolism (BG, A1C, IR, etc.)? As you say, 72kg doesn’t mean much alone. How tall are you, big frame, skinny frame?

Something to add on:
Actually there is still an effect, just not those wonderful effects, like mentality clarity and blahblahblah…

On the few days before CNY, I bought a pair of pants, and I was like ā€œeh? size 31? It is something I don’t really remember being able to wear already, as I wore 32~34 instead.ā€ and actually I can wear size 30 also, just a little bit tight, so I decided to choose size 31.

but now? ā€œeh? I remember that time size 31 isn’t that loose, how come now when I wear size 31, I need to use belt?ā€

no. about 165cm. not sure about the frame thing.

You are just above the top of normal BMI for whatever that’s worth so you are probably more squishy than fat but with no data there’s little to advise. Best efforts are frequently NOT enough.

Your friends’ comments don’t count for much in the court of keto :grinning:

but the pants count already, right? <_<

Love the technical term ā€˜more squishy than fat’!!
Cloudy-For what it’s worth, the first time I tried keto, I managed 2 weeks, lost 7lbs water weight, but felt it was too hard to sustain, I missed all the carbs too much. Went back to normal eating, with mad carb cravings, almost out of control. I decided to try keto again, researched lots of recipes, which I was so excited to try that I didn’t feel I was missing out. Found this forum, & got so many useful tips & ideas from here that I came back to keto really enthused about it. I’d though about just giving it a couple of weeks, but having read about the long term benefits & because I wanted to get a grip on my carb cravings I’ve realised I need to give it a go long term. I’m only 4 weeks in, but would definitely recommend giving it a serious go, preparing yourself for it, & being serious about keeping track of carbs to under 20g. My carb cravings have reduced massively, & I’ve lost a reasonable amount weight, so I’m still enthusiastic!
If you’re not very overweight, even smaller losses show, so that could explain your friends’ comments on your weight loss.
PS haven’t had the mental clarity yet, so I’m envious if you have!

Sometimes I wonder if people were so foggy with carbs that few carbs is clarity.

Well, I also don’t understand it.
