So I’ve been keto for almost 5 weeks and am curious about what others are like with their appetite. I don’t get hungry but maybe once a day. This past week I’ve been eating 1 meal a day and that’s it. Weight is falling off of me and I still feel great, I’m just wondering if this is normal and whether I should be eating more and hitting my macros goals. My meal follows the macros but obviously I’m not getting over 100g of fat in that meal. Thanks for any help.
Not hungry after 5 weeks
It was about that point when I became less hungry, stopped having breakfast and felt much less desire to snack, so that bit is pretty much par for the course.
It doesn’t matter if you’re having less fat than your macros, cos you’ve get plenty on your body! It’s role in keto diet is to suppress hunger, and it sounds like you’re having the right amount for that to happen. Don’t eat more just for the sake of it!
A few weeks in I wasn’t eating breakfast, and forgot lunch one day, when I got home for dinner I still wasn’t hungry so I didn’t eat. Lunch the next day was the next time I ate. All of a sudden I lost all desire to try making lots of stuff, I just wanted simple food to fill me up and it was only once per day, though I put a little MCT in my coffee in the morning. That lasted a month or so but I’m still not totally back. I started lifting weights again and wanted more protein but not too much and I found KetoChow which I believe was started by a fellow forums use @Chris_Bair it has vitamins, fiber, all sorts of good stuff and lets me get my protein and adjust the fat and calories I get. For about a month now I have HWC in my coffee, a KetoChow shake for breakfast, another for lunch, and then I cook something with the family for dinner because my wife joined the diet and is still hungry for solid food.
Much shorter answer is that it is normal, if you have a lot of fat to burn your body might not crave more which just makes sense. If I did it over again I would make sure I had high protein in that meal or in small snacks throughout the day, I definitely lost muscle mass during that period.
Don’t worry. Just limit your carbs and protein and get fat to satiety.
It’s totally normal not feeling hungry all the time, just listen to your body.
Yep, that’s me! The recipe is on https://www.ketochow.xyz/keto-chow-recipe/
You are getting fat. It’s from the inventory on your body. The only goals really is carbs and protein. Eat fat to satiety level. And if you are not hungry, don’t eat. You are winning the keto lottery! This is great news. Keep going.
