I have no problem getting in my protein and carbs, but I just can’t seem to get in my fat. Can anyone give me some ideas of healthy fats I can add to my diet to reach my fat intake goals? Thank you in advance
Not getting enough fat. Help!
Heavy whipping cream in coffee or tea. Butter in anyting. Olive oil on salads. Avocado has a lot of oil. Bacon. Supplement with MCT oil but just a little.
Thank you! I just started 2 days ago, and I have not been getting in the fat, but it really isn’t something that I ate much of to begin with…so I just don’t have that stuff around. At least now I know what to shop for! I appreciate your help!
I had some smoked salmon just the other day, wonderful with all that fish oil. I second the ‘bacon’ thing, as well. I use MCT oil in tea or keto hot cocoa, 2 Tablespoons but you have to start with less. Also, eat more pork. If you must have chicken, be sure and eat the skin, and avoid dry chicken breast. I prefer the chicken thighs, myself.
I bake or grill turkey legs and thighs. Going to make turkey broth today from a whole turkey. No fat will go wasted. Cheese but some people have alergies to dairy.
I am not familiar with MCT oil. I also was practically a vegetarian (not by any “ethical” choice, more just preference). I don’t really like pork, but I do like bacon. I just don’t eat pork chops or ham and such. I had a bacon egg and cheese omlette for breakfast today, and it took me an hour to eat bit by bit. I have no idea why I just cannot seem to force myself to eat now. Its so weird. I hope I get my appetite back. I was always a very good eater, and an exceptional snacker! LOL! I have researched this diet and decided it is what I need, so I WANT to do well on it, maybe my body just needs to adjust?
I never considered myself a picky eater before, because I eat all and any veggie, But I don’t eat certain meats. Organ meats (yucko) and I eat chicken and turkey, but don’t like thigh meat, but turkey LEGS now…yum. I can get a few of those to put in the freezer for sure! Thank you for your input!
Don’t forget to buy fattier cuts of meat. Look for good marbling in steaks and chicken thighs win against breasts.
Cream cheese is a good addition as well. Google fat bombs, lots of cream cheese and coconut oil based recipes around the 'net.
BTW appetite suppression is one of the big bonuses of this WOE. Don’t fight it.
It is hard to go from low fat to high fat since we got so brainwashed, but you will get the hang of it.
I can definitely incorporate these some more. The thought of it, though, makes me feel like it will make my skin break out or something. Have you experienced anything like that on Keto?
Is there a way to stay on Keto and not eat so much meat? I think that may be the problem. I mean I DO eat meat, just not so much. Are there any veggies or other foods that can get my protein up without pushing carbs over the top? Yeah, I know everyone yells at me about not liking thighs. I just for some reason don’t. I do remember eating them as a youngster with no issues. I am just an odd eater. Never realized until I started this! LOL! Thank you for your advice
Funny thing is that I RARELY eat sugar. I didn’t even eat a lot of candy as a child. My cravings were like pickles or chips or something, but never sweets. Bonus is that I never had a cavity
But that is good news, because I was afraid that a drastic change would cause some temporary hideousness. That would be my luck! haha!
