My career has me living on the road, thus making non-perishable more pragmatic than trying to cook raw meat. I’m curious to hear what some of the veterans do for their non-perishable food stuffs. Thank you!
Non-pershable keto options
Canned sardines, salmon, mackerel, oysters, and pork rinds or cracklins. The pork cracklings are even better than the rinds IMO - you get both hard crunch and the smooth texture of biting into fat. All these are close to 80/20 macros I think, if the fish is eaten with oil.
Olive oil sardines are pricy so I usually buy cheap ones and pour off the oil or water and backfill with my own. Toasted sesame has a lot of MCTs actually and is especially ketogenic and flavorful…
Beef jerky is expensive so I make my own out of chuck roast.
Cheese is ok not refrigerated for a few hours.
+1 on beef jerky. I always have some on the go. Very easy to make and delicious.
Plus boiled eggs are OK for a bit, you can leave them in the shell.
The tinned fish is excellent too.
I agree with the others… And there are various lovely nuts. They couldn’t make a whole meal for me ever but my SO often uses some as a substantial meal. He personally prefers the carbier stuff (usually peanuts) but even that could fit into keto.
When I was travelling with almost no space for food in my motorbike box, I only brought a little super dense food as a base: ghee mixed with ground walnut I had no better idea for food that will be kept warmish for days as my fav crunchy nuts alone was way too tempting, they always disappeared too quickly… But I didn’t eat meat back then… Now I would bring some very dry, hard sausage and thoroughly fried meat, they should be okay for a while… Tinned fish and boiled eggs are nice but they couldn’t amount to a meal for me. Nice for variety though.
