No temptations to cheat

Yesterday I went to a party that had a couple of keto-friendly foods. We also took some guacamole and parmesan crisps. There was a lot of dishes I could easily have had “just a bite” of like yummy mac and cheese.

When I was starting strict keto 11+ months ago I would have taken even a little bit of the mac and cheese. Like a tablespoon. Yesterday I had no temptation to do so. I had a naked burger with some bacon and cheese. I did not even want mustard. I put some salt on it and was happy.

I drank some seltzer water while so many people were drinking heavily. I’ve lost most of my desire to drink, even just a glass of wine. How is that possible?

I love this WOE, WOL.

That’s a great feeling! Sometimes I feel like before I was jonesing for my next carb fix (to increase my crashing blood sugar) and now I’m carb sober food is just fuel. It has a purpose and isn’t just a thing to satisfy my taste buds. I was pretty amazed the first time I looked at a party spread and didn’t have anticipation about how much delicious food was being offered. I just saw objectively what was good for my body, what was going to do other things. Pretty awesome!

We had a couple over for dinner and were having burgers on the grill. Had to get some buns and realized that the ketchup had expired so we got that and some potato chips too. Anyway I caved and ate one potato chip. I feel so dirty this morning.

For me, it’s because I relish the foods I do eat and when I look at junk, I see doom and disease. My hormones and taste buds have bent the knee and pledged fealty to feeling good. It just doesn’t feel right to indulge in past addictions any more.

Heading out to a cookout in a few and I already have my plan in place-2 hot dogs, no bun, with a bit of mustard, some of the blueberry/strawberry fruit salad that I’m bringing and then I’m bringing a can of flavored sparkling water to drink. Will be a solid, low carb lunch
