Went for drinks with a couple of guys from work tonight, normally have 2 pints but struggled tonight, didn’t even finish 1 pint, it just felt too heavy & gassy. Obviously tastes they are a changing.
No longer a fan of lager!
As I’m literally sitting at my favorite tap house that I hadn’t been to in MONTHS (they thought I had died), I’m noticing the same thing. I’ve never been a big lager guy, but I’m struggling to get through my second IPA. Not really the taste, I still like that, it’s just so filling, and I’m getting a buzz after 1-1/2, where it used to take me 5 or 6. To be fair, I’m a mug club member so my pours are in a 32oz mug, not a pint; but still.
That’s it exactly, just so filling. Seriously doubt I could finish even 1/2 pint of a decent ale.
Same here man, It saddens me but it’s the best thing. I used to drive for a beer distributor and bought the crap by the case at cost! Now it’s White Russians when I drink.
That used to be one of my favorites (the dude abides), but I freaked out about the sugar in Kahlua so I switched to the safety of gin and sodas
Ahhhhhh, it’s not perfect but I started with Kahlua Flavored sugar free syrup, then they lost the “Kahlua” branding I’m assuming a legal thing, now it’s “Coffee Liquer” doesn’t taste the same but not terrible either. A lot of people on Youtube do a homebrew Kahlua from Vodka, I didn’t do it for a while because how the hell can you make coffee rum from Vodka? Finally gave in, not too bad! Of course if I made a real one I probably wouldn’t say that but hey, it’s what I got.
Tried, never worked right. I can get closer to real Kahlua with Vodka than I can rum, makes no sense but multiple tries, same result. I don’t know if Kahlua makes their own rum or not but It always comes out completely off. I’m a huge rum fan so I’ve tried a ton of them. Figured a cheap sweet one like Captains would be about right, came out like crap. Went fancier with a Zaya, sucked. Appleton, Bacardi something always doesn’t mix in right when you add the coffee in. You figure it out you let me know and I’ll start brewing that crap by the drum!
Hmmm…you lost me at “add the coffee in.” Are you not extracting the coffee into the booze?

I’ve always done something similar, make the coffee/booze extract, add sweetener.
Are you mixing strong coffee, booze, and sweetener instead? Never tried that method myself.
I don’t think I could stomach a beer anymore. ITs been over 1.5 years since I had a beer and we have a farm microbrewery right next to my neighborhood (I can see it from my bedroom window) that was conveniently close and my husband, kids, and I would walk over there every weekend for 2 or 3 beers. Now I might have a glass of wine every other month or so but really don’t miss either.
