Seems the love/hate tug of war click-bait news articles dramatizing diets means that low carb is both loved and hated on any given day - this one is bound to go far in reassuring the public and upsetting the conventional MD types like that annoying David Katz MD.

(Plus, the male model pics of a mature model with cool siver hair and a beard is a refreshing change for these types of articles).

"Two scientific studies independently concluded a ketogenic, or keto, diet (a high fat, very low-carb diet) increase lifespan and preserved memory and motor function in mice…

Susan A. Masino, a professor of applied science at Trinity Collage in Connecticut, has spent years researching the ketogenic diet, metabolism and brain health. She told Healthline: “This is a really exciting finding and long overdue. “Ketogenic diets mimic the metabolic state of fasting, or caloric restriction - which has many similar benefits.”

Many studies have shown low-carb diets are more effective at reducing visceral fat than low-fat diets."

Cool! I was already expecting to live to 100 so this is a bonus.

Many studies have shown that fasting alone increases life expectancy.

And…we do both! Fasting and LCHF.

My only fear is that I will outlive all my friends. I am already the oldest surviving member of my family.

I hear you Kate! Healthy longevity is a new social frontier of sorts, at least in the modern industrial world - so keeping up trustworthy community relationships with younger folks/mentees/neighbors/coworkers who will likely be around when we are very elderly takes on a new meaning. And doing it so that healthy bonds are able to form over time also impt (who needs unhealthy new friendships). Some people have wonderful ways to do this within certain worship communities or neighborhoods - others of us have to work harder to cultivate it. I have a dear friend who is busy not only in historic dance groups but also professional groups, and she’s a role model for me about how to nurture new community bonds midlife and beyond.

Then again, considering that Greenland is melting so rapidly, and the catastrophic typhoons as well as wildfires are multiplying, I’m unsure the biosphere will hold up long enough to find out.
