I have been doing keto for roughly 2 months and I am struggling to get into ketosis, but on the upside I have lost approximately 12-15lbs. So my question is do I just keep my mouth shut about not being in ketosis or do I keep trying to figure out how to get into ketosis. I use those ketone test strips to measure my ketones. I also do intermittent fasting from 9pm to 1pm.
Newbie What am I doing wrong
You’re “doing keto” but what are you eating, how many carbs daily, etc?
I have a bulletproof in the am while I am fasting. I try to stay under 20g carbs daily. For lunch I try to have more fats than protein for lunch, so my lunch sometimes would chicken cutlet fried with almond flour and melted cheese on top with creamed spinach. this was my lunch yesterday. I try to have something different everyday. for dinner I had cauliflower mash with cheese and pancetta and shrimp with garlic and butter.
Are you using pee strips to measure? They only really look at wasted ketones… once your body starts using them for fuel less are wasted so for some people they don’t show up at all… breath or blood is a far better way to measure ketones.
you think its possible that I am in ketosis and the strips are no good? I am definitely losing weight…clothing and scale both confirm it.
Pee strips only measure one type of ketone and only what is wasted rather than used as fuel, that’s why very few people recommend them. New keto people are often put off and give up because the sticks show negative but this is not a reliable measure at all, your results are a reliable measure.
Don’t stress, it’s bad for you. Your results look good so no worries. I assume that you are doing this for weight loss. If you stop losing you might need to tweak your diet, usually less protein or dairy in general.
