I’ve been eating keto for 4 weeks now and feeling pretty good. My sugar cravings are pretty nonexistent and I don’t have the afternoon slump anymore but I have this constant feeling like everything is slower kind of like I’m under water. I’m trying to up my fluids, electrolytes, magnesium and potassium but I’m wondering if I need even more. I’m currently about 125lb so don’t have any weight to lose but I’m very insulin resistant, which is one reason I wanted to try keto. My macros according to Senza should be 25c, 63p, 114f. I don’t have a meter yet so I don’t know if I’m in ketosis or not. I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions for things I could try so I can get past this constant slow motion feeling.
Newbie under water
I have been in ketosis since Easter but new to the forum.
I would say to try more fat and put a small pinch of Himalyian salt on your tongue to dissolve every few hours when feeling under water mentally. Also, you really need to find out if you are in ketosis. In my opinion you are flying blind otherwise and may be suffering needlessly
Do you have some idea of how much salt you are getting per day? Low sodium is one reason for lethargy and potassium has to be balanced with sodium.
Try including some fats like coconut oil, butter, cream that contain MCTs as these go directly to the liver and are readily converted to ketones and see if that helps get you through the adaptation process.
I also recommend testing even if it’s only the urine strips at first.
