I’m new to keto, this is my 5th day on the keto diet. I needed to snack so badly today and I chewed a gum, is that detrimental to me getting into ketosis?
Newbie question help!
Not ideal but not likely to be any major harm done as long as it was sugar free. With sugar would be more of an issue but still nothing you can’t recover from.
Ok, thanks, I’m relived. I have a major sugar addiction and I’m trying to overcome it keto. I would hate to jeopardise my progress.
Pick up some keto friendly snack to have on hand, macadamia nuts are great, for future. Ideally you want to get to the point of not snacking at all, but when you’re first starting out there are some good options to help keep you on track.
This will help
If you have good teeth, they make a great side addition to your meal.
I mix all my 6 different seeds together and then fill a small pill bottle with them.
I then just pour a small amount in my mouth and chew them very well. That way they will not oxidize as they would quite fast in a coffee grinder. I never heat them either.
I mix a whole pale-full together and freeze them in separate Ziploc bags with 2 cups of seeds in each bag.
Take a bag out of the freezer as needed. They are really great also to carry around just in case you get very hungry. Friends that I am with will ask me for a swig quite often because they are so satisfying and addicting.
When you are first starting out keto, you should eat when you are hungry. Just make sure what you eat is a keto food. Make sure it has plenty of healthy fat to fill you up, keep you full longer, and satisfy you. As you continue on your keto journey, as you become fat adapted (which can take up to 6-8 weeks to be fully adapted) your hunger will naturally decrease and you will likely no longer feel the need to snack in between your meals. So, if hungry, eat.
