My vote; if what you are eating is keeping you full and you are maintaining/losing weight… Don’t focus on the numbers so much. Work more towards intuitive eating. Add more fats, if you don’t feel satisfied.
Don’t use light or fat free things. Eat whole eggs not whites up your fat u won’t even need to eat all meals.
First, FRUIT is EVIL. It should be eaten MAYBE a few times a year! When it is locally available, and preferably when you picked it yourself.
Tomatoes are a fruit!
Add bacon, and more avocado (with just salt and pepper).
Cooking spinach INCREASES the net carbs. Make sure your mayo is home made, and does not contain sugar. But the oils used in store bought are terrible.
Breakfast: Change Egg Whites to WHOLE Egg or just Egg Yolks. Whites are PURE protein. The best KETO ratio of the egg is the yolk!
You want to center your diet on the FAT. Zero out all the carbs you can. And moderate the protein. TOO Much protein will get converted to glucose! Fat cannot be converted to glucose!
It’s a detail, but I rarely separate eggs. Keep it simple. With the turkey, chicken, or any meat, prefer the dark or fatty cuts. Restaurants will love your request for the “fatty cut.” If you get a blank stare, don’t insist, though.
Again, keep it simple. Low-carb is simple. The more simple you make it, the more you’ll find it is a far better alternative to the standard american diet.
Don’t do “lite” cheese. And instead of pre-shredded cheese, buy a block of cheese and grate it yourself.
Why? Because if you look at the ingredients on a package of shredded cheese, it will often have something like potato starch in it. And that equals more carbs.
also on stuff like mayo, salsa, or other condiments, make sure you’re reading the labels. It’s kind of surprising how many things have sugar added into it.
By the way, if you want a good-tasting low carb ketchup, Sprouts sells an unsweetened ketchup made by Primal Kitchen. It tastes REALLY good. It’s not totally carb free, but it’s way less than regular ketchup. And a little of it goes a long way because the flavor is so much more intense than regular ketchup.
Also, at Sprouts I found this brand of marinara sauce called Michael’s of Brooklyn which is 4 gm of carbs per serving. It tastes very good!
I eat tomatoes (within my carb count) and maintain ketosis. Now, do I eat oranges? No, but tomatoes are like heavy whipping cream to me…(from my cold dead hands)
This
I didn’t know Sprouts carried Michael’s! I have been ordering it from Amazon for ages. Best sauce you’ll find in a jar.
Yes, and add some WALKING… (Helps deplete glycogen faster).
Not crazy exercise, just move!
