New to the keto world

Hi all,

Per my herbal doctors orders for Lyme disease she has insisted a keto diet makes a lot of sense for me. Been off and on the keto diet for about a month. These past few weeks I’ve finally gotten my keto levels up to about 1.5, when previously I had been hovering from .5-1.

Since I’ve been more in the higher level area (1.5) I’ve noticed some increased anxiety. Could this be due to the transformation of my body getting used to everything now that I’m heading towards optimal ketosis? Or a lack of electrolyte issue?

Just wondering if anybody has gone through some anxiety when adapting to the keto diet. I was already on a fairly low carb diet before the adaption btw.

Good question, and not sure I have the answer but I did notice it happen to me, too. But in my case, it could have been my TSH levels changing (changed my Synthroid dosage recently), it could have been stress at work, lack of sleep, or just my life-long anxiety rearing its head. But I definitely think it’s possible… we’re asking our bodies to do a lot of adjusting and changing so don’t know why a hormonal/anxiety response wouldn’t be part of it.

Try not to go “on and off” … commit to it and stay with it.

I noticed that when my ketones got high from using exodunous ketones. Maybe I just wasn’t used to ketone energy. I kinda scared me. I don’t notice it anymore.
