New to The Forum, but kind of not too Keto. Questions and concerns

I’m new to the Forum, so I should probably tell you a little bit about myself.

I started my keto Journey on the 22nd of May, and I’ve had some pretty decent results, but even though my diet hasn’t really altered from what I was eating first off at the start, I seem to have stalled out on losing weight, and I can’t figure out why.

The only thing that might have changed, is that I’ve been getting more protein into my diet by way of beef boneless roast. It always has a nice amount of fat on it, so I thought that with beef having no carbs, it would satisfy two out of the three requirements needed for the diet. As for the water, I drink a minimum of 192 oz of water a day, minimum.

I was able to get other people to start keto as well, by sharing my experiences and successes, but that being said now, I’ve not had many more successes in a while.

I stayed true to the diet the best I could, save for one time when I broke down and had a little Fried Chicken which of course kicked me out of ketosis.

Most days, my diet would consist of some diced beef boneless roast, cooked in some butter, a good handful of spinach, roughly a half cup of cottage cheese, and a mozzarella cheese stick since it was easy enough to count the carbs for the same thing everyday.

Is it bad to have the same thing to eat everyday? And if so, can you guys give me any advice on what I could change? Also a little side note, I went to the doctor recently, and the nurse practitioner told me that while keto is an okay diet to do for a little while, it will cause long-term effects to your kidneys. Are any of you ever heard of anything like that? Okay I’ll shut up now.

Not if you’re getting everything your body needs from what you’re eating. Listen to your body, if it’s craving something not on the diet maybe you need to broaden your palate or start supplementing something. That’s my favorite part about Keto, it allows you to actually start hearing your body instead of just all the noise.

She’s probably worried about the whole ‘too much protein can cause kidney damage’ thing. You’d have to be eating in excess of 50% of your calories from protein for quite some time for this to be an issue. Someone correct me if I’m wrong on that or if you know more exact numbers. You should never be getting close to this with a photogenic diet as the majority of your calories should come from fat.

Sounds like you’re doing great, welcome to the community!

If I was going crazy on the beef, I can see her being concerned, but I usually only eat enough beef per meal, that would fit in a cupped hand.

As for the craving thing, the only thing I really crave, is the things I really loved to eat before the diet. That mean crispy delicious chicken skin, and things made out of potatoes such as french fries, mashed potatoes, hash browns, Etc. I substitute mashed potatoes, with mashed cauliflower, and I thought about trying to make hash browns out of cauliflower as well. Your thoughts?

Sounds perfectly normal to me. I also have a soft spot for potatoes and crispy things.

I’ve already spread the word about Keto, and have convince a couple of my friends to try it out. I’m might have convinced a couple of others try it, but I haven’t seen them in a little while. I want to lead by example, so I’m really hoping that I can get out of this stall that I’m in.

You can still eat crispy chicken skin. Get it from your butcher and crisp it up your self with your favorite spices. Also radishes make a good potato substitute. As for the stall, try upping your fat. From what you listed as your daily food intake, your fat seems a bit low. [quote=“SkullKingBA, post:3, topic:15398”]

What would be a good fat to include in my diet? Also, I will be trying that hash brown recipe most certainly.
