New to Keto...& Carbs seem all or nothing?

I’ve found it really easy to be ZERO or near zero carbs…eating mostly meat, butter, cheese (Manchego cheese that has 0 carbs), and fish… and doing this I am totally full and satiated. The second I have any carbs-I can do a little dairy, but veggies or even a couple berries… and I feel starving and not at all satisfied!!! Has anyone else felt this all or nothing when starting out? Any ideas on why this happens!? I’d like to be able to eat veggies but…this is really frustrating…

** No known metabolic or other health issues that I know of…

Maybe you are hypersensitive to carbs. It happens. I’m not sure how the products you talked about could trigger cravings, but anything’s possible - cream often has additives and sausage nearly always does.

However, it could be a matter of what KIND of carb it is - for example, you might be hyper-sensitive to maltodextrin (which unfortunately is EVERYWHERE), or to some other additive. That sausage might have enough sugar to trigger you. But I t might be that a nice salad with a homemade dressing with no additives won’t set you off at all.

Keep a super close eye on labels of everything you eat; you may find the culprit quicker than you think.

PS Are you topping those carbs with plenty of fat?

Whoops…my post may have been confusing…the pork sausage and dairy are fine for me…I meant any other carbs (SO, veggies, or a couple berries, some cocoa powder, etc) is when I start feeling hungry, no longer focused and just less satisfied…even if my daily carbs are still well under 20g

Possibly not topping veggies with enough fats…that’s one thing I will consider!

*Before starting Keto I was eating a very high carb diet, if that makes any difference!

You sound like a good candidate for carnivore… Paging Dr @Dread1840

It makes a LOT of difference! Some people counsel that it might be better to gradually decrease your carbs instead of going straight to 20 or less. As a carb/sugar addict, I think it’s better to go low-or-no-carb and tough it out with lots of fat until you lose those cravings. It doesn’t take that long to get them under control. And it gives you such a feeling of POWER when you do!!

There are plenty of people who went zero-carb/carnivore, not because they wanted to, but because they had to, for health reasons. Whatever foods give you a bad reaction, don’t eat them!

I’d love to be able to eat glazed doughnuts by the way—there simply isn’t any vegetable that comes even CLOSE. But if I have those three dozen, I’ll have to have another three dozen, and that will be the end of me. Quick as you can say “Bob’s your uncle,” I’ll be in the dialysis unit with full-blown Type II and the resulting kidney disease, and the doctor will be telling me to start getting my toes chopped off. . . .

Happens I like my toes, actually, so maybe I’ll just give those doughnuts a miss . . . for now, at any rate.

I’m nearly carnivore these days. It’s mostly to avoid the
ass spraying mayhem.
I’m perfectly regular if I eat carbage and I’m perfectly regular when I’m carnivore, it’s eating keto omnivore that wrecks my guts for some reason.
