Hello,
I’m just 9 days on keto. I’m feeling great and hopefully past my low energy phase. My energy now I would describe almost as a high! My question is. Is it normal that I am feeling colder than usual. Granted I live in northern Ohio and its winter. I usually am normally a little warm and usually have a “hot” phase after getting up in the morning and drinking my first cup of coffee. I am 51 but did have a total hysterectomy including ovaries at 47. I have been on the same estrogen therapy without side effects since then. I have had hot flashes before the hyst and to me they were different.
Sorry if this is kinda “out there” but I’m curious if this has anything to do with keto.
Thanks
Kellie
New to keto, always cold?
This hot phase may have been caused by your wake-up hormones elevating your blood sugar. If your blood sugar is running lower in general then it would make sense you’re not feeling that warmth. Just a thought.
It may not be that at all but I’m sure you’ll get some other responses. Welcome to the forum
Given that your energy level is great, I won’t suggest that the coldness is a possible sign of starvation but I will remind you that we both recently experienced an extremely cold blast of arctic air the past few days. I’m in PA and it’s been single digits for a few days and I am cold too. It’s really drafty and my furnace can’t seem to keep up with how warm I would like it to be.
Hopefully, after this cold front passes our recent chills will too.
Thanks!
Yes, my energy is great! It was just strange this morning because I was drinking my second cup of coffee and actually turned the heat up, when I usually turn it down. I am in no way complaining, it’s not like I can’t put a sweatshirt on and I’m fine. To me, it’s almost like another benefit of keto. I guess I was wondering if maybe there was a certain benefit I’m experiencing that I was unaware of.
Another thing to keep in mind is that fat loss can create some hormonal weirdness so you may find that your current HRT regime needs tweaking at some point.
At 7 days I had lost 4 pounds, now at 9 days I feel my pants getting a little less snug, so I’m thinking I may be losing inches. Keeping my weight checks to weekly.
Sorry, but what does HRT stand for…I know, newbie!! Lol
Dang!! I figured it out!!
I’m actually trying to figure out if I should slowly get off of it.
I’d give it a little while before running it by your doctor. The first bit of weight loss we experience is largely water weight & then once you’re more adapted to the diet the fat loss ramps up. Hormones are stored in fat so as you burn through the fat those hormones can be released. If you start having unusual hormonal symptoms then it would definitely be worth reviewing your HRT regime with the experts .
