New to keto - 1st mistake

(Manu Jain) #1

My wife and I have been on keto for deep months. 99% off what we’re eating we make ourselves to be sure of the ingredients and nutrition. We had a bit of good news and decided to splurge on ordering food. My food was ok, but my wife thought she was getting macadamia parmesan coconut crusted tilapia and it godgood gave been give, but we just found out the were some breadcrumbs in the crust as well, even though we were originally told there weren’t. Should this kick her out of keto? What’s the fastest way to get back to ketosis? She’s been feeling guilty and crying.

Stop worrying about it and just get back to keto eating. A little slip isn’t going to hurt anything. Your both doing great.

Awe I feel bad that she is crying. I made a mistake once as well and I only had a head ache for a couple days but was still in ketosis . I think she is fine , just resume the normal keto lifestyle

A little bit of accidental breading should not do any harm. I’m sure she was still under 20g if carbs and some people eat 50g or more and still stay in ketosis. No diet is worth crying over.

I bet the changes from your old way of eating are drastic, tell her to think of all the positive changes she has made instead of the one slip up (that will amount to nothing, I’m sure of it).

On another note, I’m angry the restraint screwed up. If she was gluten intolerant or had an allergy. . . They should have been more careful.

She’s crying over eating a few breadcrumbs?
That level of “enthusiasm” is not likely to be unsustainable. Absent an anaphylactic reaction, that much stress over food isn’t healthy. And could be counter productive to weight loss.

To your questions: no one can tell you her ketotic state, the only way to know definitively is to measure. The fastest way to get into ketosis is a water fast.

I would also add that being in ketosis isn’t the be all and end all of everything. Its just a moment in time.

Hey! Stop using my phone!:rofl::rofl:

(Autocorrect is sometimes very helpful, but boy, oh, boy, the rest of the time . . . . :man_facepalming: )

The first time I got a bag of macadamia nuts, my mouth was telling my hand, GIVEGIVEGIVEGIVEGIVE
