New on the Keto train

Hello all. Just wanted to say Hi and maybe get a little guidance. I’m very new to the Keto diet physically. (1 week in) but have been reading up on it for a while. I was not on a strict diet before this but very active so don’t struggle with a weight issue I did also consume a fair amount of sugar. I’m trying the diet for the health benefits and some fat loss for the summer.
I’m having trouble finding a good source for blood sugar levels. Google Burys me in diabetic content. I tested my blood for the 1st time today. Approximately 90 mins after eating (6oz steak 1 large pepper, 140g mushrooms and half an avacardo) and my levels were. 3.6 mmol HCT 39%. From what I can find on google this seems low. But shouldn’t blood sugar be low due to the lack of sugar?

I’m 31YOM, 11st 8 in the morning, 5’ 9”, Train weights and cardio 5 times per week.

Thanks for reading. I look forward to chatting with you.

Do you feel ok, not dizzy or any other strange symptoms? Then it’s ok.

That reading would be very low for a diabetic, and is pretty low for a non diabetic, but if you feel ok it’s nothing to be worried about. Might be worth checking a few times a day to start with to establish what is your ‘normal’

Hi Duncan. Thanks for the reply. I feel fine. A little hungry but dinner is fast approaching. So best thing to do is do some more testing throughout the day and find my personal normal. Thanks again.

I asked a pretty much identical question when I started … just passing it on :grinning:

The home blood tests seem pretty precise (they read about the same each time) but not too accurate. You will still be able to sus out what keeps your blood sugar low and that store bought food xxx makes it soar.

The next box of strips maybe different.
