New and asking ANOTHER question

Sugar in cheese. God I didn’t know that. Yet they say it’s ok to eat it. Do you eat raw meat from a packet? There’s no butcher nearby so I have to but some say there’s additives in it.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #42

There’s milk sugar (lactose) in cheese. It’s just in there.

I would have to look at the label on the meat package you’re talking about to tell you if I’d eat it. Can you give me a name so we can google it?

Ok it’s Australian grasslands tender cut beef, grass fed beef premium mince. It says pasturefed free range, no added hormones, antibiotic free.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #44

Yup, I would eat that!

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #45

It could have been a rounding thing. I wouldn’t stress over 1g. Now, if it was a 5g+ difference then I’d take a look to see what is going on.

(Keto Koala 🐨) #46

Woolwortghs 100% Australian beef. Blade steak boneless. And Australian grasslands tender cut beef grass fed beef premium mince. The mince says pasturefed, free range, no added hormones, antibiotic free

I feel so confused it just said 7grams sugar for the whole day with my carbs at about 6 grams. Percentages and maths confuses me. I’ve always been very smart at English and rubbish at arithmetic.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #48

Our US labels give us carbs then breaks them down into sugar and fiber. Net carbs is the total carb minus the fiber.

So if X food has 10 grams of carbs, but 7 grams of sugar and 3 of fiber then if you’re counting net carbs, it’s only 7 grams of carbs. Some people count total carbs, which would be 10

Is it possible your app is doing something like this and that’s why the breakdown is confusing you?

(Keto Koala 🐨) #49

Then I’ve got Woolworths 100% Australian beef. Blade steak boneless. That’s all it says.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #50

Generally speaking, land animals without anything added to them are zero carbs. Some seafood animals are more carby. Eggs have a negligible amount of carbs (like 0.6 g per egg, depending on size).

(Keto Koala 🐨) #51

It counts every thing, net carbs total carbs, sugar, fibre. Maybe that’s what happened.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #52

That makes sense, you’ll get the hang of it, I promise. Just keep reading and practicing and it will click. Six months from now you’ll be surprised you were ever so confused by it!

(Keto Koala 🐨) #53

I’m trying to send a photo of the macros on the App but I don’t know how.:joy:

(PSackmann) #54

Sorry, I don’t bother with the knife and fork. If it’s okay to eat food with the fingers when wrapped in bread, why not without the bread? Anyway, my co-workers are used to me skipping the bread most times so don’t really look, they’re more interested if I’m going to give up the chips and cookie.

(Keto Koala 🐨) #55

It’s ok, I just looked up all the foods I’ve been eating and in each food there’s hardly any sugar. It must have just been a rounding up thing. Strangely enough it says there’s 2 grams of sugar in eggs.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #56

https://www.google.com/search?q=sugar+in+eggs&rlz=1CAHKDC_enUS830&oq=sugar+in+eggs&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.1902j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

If you change it to Raw egg, it’s 0.2 grams of sugar per egg.

(Keto Koala 🐨) #57

Does this look like a big enough lunch?

(Keto Koala 🐨) #58

So it’s ok to eat them boiled. I’m so sorry I over analyse things. I just really want to get the hang of this. I feel like an idiot

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #59

It’s okay. It’s okay to eat them however you want. ONE gram of carbs is more than either boiled or raw. Raw has zero point two (0.2) grams of carbs. That means you could eat five of them and it would equal 1 gram of carbs.

You could eat two boiled eggs (0.6 grams of carbs) and it would be equal to 1.2 grams of carbs. Honestly, though, I don’t even count egg carbs. But you should while you’re learning it all.

Thanks for answering all my questions. It’s like Keto school :joy::joy::joy::joy:
