Need advice for friend with heart problems

We’ve all heard the .“Heart healthy” LOW FAT BS and other crap. My doc wanted to put me on statins because my cholesterol was borderline high as were my LDL-HDL numbers. I refused and after loosing 75#, my numbers are great.

However, my brother and a good friend are having heart problems. My brother has a “zinger” defibrillator inside his chest that “wakes” up he heard if it detects an incident. It’s not a pacemaker and it goes off once in while. He also has high A1C numbers and his doc has him on some meds for that, plus the low fat crap.

He had his first attack at age 46 resulting in a bypass and over the years (he’s now 72) has had numerous stents to open blockages in the bypassed viens. He’s been trying to loose weight but can’t do much physically. I’ve suggested Keto to him but his doctor says it’s a no-no.

Now a friend of mine who also had a heart attack 6 or so years ago is having repeat of heart problems (not to the extent of my brother). He would like to loose weight too and I want to recommend Keto. I know the traditional medical community is not anywhere near on board with this.

Is there anyone on this forum on Keto who every experienced heart problems.

I had a heart attack in August 2003 — more than 15 years ago. I have been on beta blockers, statins (mostly for inflammation reduction) and an anti-arrhythmia drug. I’ve been fortunate that the meds have served me well but I’ve always been overweight/obese.

But I knew that long term the meds would not be the answer. So I embarked on LCHF in April and have lost 51 pounds. My A1c and blood glucose are significantly lower. Hopefully I will get off statins totally in next few weeks.

Fortunately both my cardiologist and GP advocate low carb so I have them in my corner.

I can posit from my experience that Keto is not going to harm your friends any more than what’s going on with them now. Just be smart about it.

I hate to link to videos, as I personally have little time to watch them. I am also such a fast reader that reading for me takes much, much, much less time than does watching a video (at least to get the main part of the substance; verification and take a lot longer).

However, this gentleman (Ivor Cummins) has a lot of information about what likely causes heart disease:

Also, this gentleman (Dr. Malcolm Kendrick) I think has the only theory about heart disease (meaning heart attack, stroke) that makes sense to me:

I personally think he’s correct and should win some type of award.

Their subject matter overlaps, as Ivor Cummins looks at it from the perspective of what’s the best diet for reducing chances of heart disease, while Dr. Kendrick looks at it from what likely causes heart disease (and it’s not LDL or LDL-p).
