Need a Partner to chat with...frustrated

#1

I started about two weeks ago. I thought I was doing well, even my scale is broken- I was hoping for about five pounds. I was looking forward to getting my Keto test strips to see where I was and today the strip arrived in the mail. I took the test and the strip didn’t even change colors. I was hoping to connect with someone offline that has proven success that I chat with who wouldn’t mind helping me.

How much they change will vary depending on the time of day and you have to remember that it has only been two weeks. Depending on your diet and your individual make up it can take 2-3 times that to be fat adapted and live in ketosis.

I haven’t bought one of the ketone blood meters yet and just watch the sticks as well. You would think that with what I am eating and the fact I am doing 20:4 IF that I should have some of the highest readings just before my eating window opens and I have had nothing but water for 20 hours but that is not what I see. When I first wake up about 10-12 hours after my last meal I get to the dark pink 40 line but after 20 hours I am typically in the 10-15 range on the sticks and it only goes higher if I extend my fast period beyond that.

Don’t get frustrated. Like I said, it is still very early in the process for you and you likely just need to keep with it to get to fat adaptation.

Congratulations you are well hydrated, that is what those strips are best for, letting you know when your hydration is off.

Thank you this is good to know. I’ve been trying to drink lots of ‘tea’- which I put dissolved chicken bouillon sin a gallon of water and drink cups of warm tea at my desk throughout the day. Straight water was getting boring

Wow 20:4. That’s amazing!let me try increasing my space I was only doing 16:8 on the weekends

Do what works for you. 16:8 is what most people who start IF will naturally go into because for many of them, they are often doing something similar without realizing it, especially if they aren’t a breakfast person. If they work a dayshift job they simply don’t eat the first meal until around lunchtime at 11a-12p and stop by 7-8pm. As people get comfortable in that pattern it isn’t uncommon for them to stretch it out to 18:6 and stop eating earlier. The key is to get all your calories and macros in within that time and not short change yourself. For me it is pretty easy as I have no problem building a 1,000 calorie omelette that is fat heavy.
