Nausea and vomiting on keto?

#1

I’ve been on keto approximately 3 weeks with great results… and I have eaten this way once before and felt amazing on it, which is why I started again. However, this time around I am struggling physically. Last night I had a wave of nausea so bad - it lasted for about 15 minutes before I finally vomited. It was insanely acidic. After vomiting it subsided, but this is the second time this has happened within a week, and nothing like this ever happened when I was eating keto before.

Has anyone had an issue with this? Is this keto related, something I can tweak with some extra nutrients or vitamins? I’d rather not go to the doctor if I don’t have to - I recently moved and I don’t have a GP here yet.

Thanks in advance!

Next time it happens, take some salt and eat it straight. Just put some in your palm and lick your finger to eat it. Wait about 3-5 minutes.

If it’s your electrolytes like I believe it is, you will have very quick relief this way.

I have experienced both dizziness and nausea from my electrolytes being off. It’s amazing how fast a little salt puts the world right again.
Even though I think I’m supplementing adequately, I find that adding an extra mile to my run will throw me off again.

If the salt doesn’t help, then it’s something else, but try this quick remedy first to see.

Is it right after you eat? Do you have a gallbladder or do you have gallbladder issues? I don’t have a gallbladder and I get nauseated if I do too much fat at one time.

I will definitely try that… I thought I was consuming enough salt but I’m thinking that may be the issue.

I do still have my gallbladder… I don’t really notice any kind of gallbladder pain or anything that accompanies this.

So, as a follow up —turns out it has nothing to do with keto after all… I’m pregnant!

Thank you for your advice!
