I don’t do cheat meals or step outside my boundaries. After my first year of keto, I stepped into carnivore Zero Carbs and never looked back.
BUT
I went to a concert out of town with a friend. (Mavis Staples and Bonnie Raitt!!! Two kick-a$$ old broads.)

Found ourselves with no choices for dinner except a fantastic Jamaican joint. Oh my gawd…. Jerk Pork and steamed cabbage with spices. The pork was like burnt ends that had been caramelized in this incredible sweet and spicy concoction. (didn’t touch the rice, and only a few yummy bites of cabbage. But that pork!!!)

It was my first WTH meal in 2 years and a very deliberate decision. I savored each bite, knowing there would probably be a big price to pay very soon. Didn’t care. No guilt. No remorse. And guess what, no repercussions whatsoever.

I know for a fact there was brown sugar in that sauce, maybe some honey… who knows. But my joints didn’t swell up and ache, no tummy or bathroom issues. And today I was actually down a couple pounds.

I guess the reason I’m sharing is because I did it. And as an addict, I know I got lucky. No cravings or slippery slopes. The keto/carni gods gave me a break, I guess. And I will remember this meal like I remember my first love. Never to be experienced again, but oh so sweet!
Picture Meg Ryan at the diner in When Harry Met Sally. You know the one. Yes! Yes! Yes!

I can’t say I blame you; it looks and sounds amazing : )

Good for you with your positive attitude instead of beating yourself up. Life……. happens, ya know?

Also glad you didn’t suffer any negative side effects :+1:

If that was cauliflower rice, I would have chinned the lot and (metaphorically) licked the plate!

Yeah, soon I’m going to have to get some fatty pork bits, maybe like the pork belly bits that Janie had…

Yeah I used to love riced cauliflower when I was still able to eat veggies. They become my substitute potato.

Did u do a lengthy fast afterwards? If I get stuck in a situation like this, I have a tendency to do a lengthy fast.

Nope. Just carried on as per usual. I am lucky.
