Mystery solved?

I’ve been on keto now for 5 and 1/2 weeks and I’ve lost 10 lb. But I feel so fatigued. Should be over the keto flu by now, don’t you think? Took my blood pressure this morning, it was 101 over 65, usually is 125/75. That seems way too low and could be the cause of my fatigue. I might back off some of my meds and see what happens.

Always talk first with ur doctor when u want to reduce meds or go off em just incase. Typical time for adaption is 6-8 weeks, if ur older or female it takes a bit longer. Feeling fatigued is most commonly low electrolyte intake as u cant keep eating the same ammount as you did before keto, ur body flushes out the salts much more rapidly than before. Try extra salt to every meal + pinches of salt thru out the day, see if things change.

What are the meds? and what for.

(Mc-Queeney) #4

Lisinopril 40mg +metoprolol 100mg for blood pressure control.

Sounds like you should get back to the docs for a chat then…sooner rather than later.

Increasing salt intake seemed to have helped me with my fatigue.

Your blood pressure is too low. This happened to me and I had to come off my blood pressure meds one by one (I was on 3). I would not take the Metoprolol and go and see your Dr in the morning. Tell him what you have done and why. I dont know how up to date your Dr is.
I know you feel rough but its a good thing. I had a BP of 145/85 on 3 meds. Now its 125/80 on no meds. Nice feeling.
I came off my statin and Omeprazole too. I am a nurse and my Dr is used to me being. … involved in my care! Not that I see him much, especially not now😊

I wouldn’t necessarily say your BP is too low in general, as mine tends towards numbers like that (usually around 110/70, but had dipped to numbers like yours - no meds).

Yesterday mine was:
112/70 and 102/64 taken at 2 appointments

That said, the fact that you are on BP meds to lower BP means you should track it and see your doc ASAP with your numbers so they can adjust your meds.
