Anyone know how reliable fitness pal is? Says each 4oz is 73/27 hamburger is 350 cal, 30g fat. I had four which would put me at 1400 plus cheese so I’m around 1600cals for the day. Trying out OMAD so wondering how accurate some of the entries are.
MyFitnessPal burger
Here is what cronometer suggests for 4 oz of 70/30 if that helps.
PROTEIN: 29.0 g (40.4%)
NET CARBS: 0.0 g (0.0%)
FAT: 20.3 g (59.6%)
Total kcals at 306
If you’re scanning a barcode on the packaging, I usually trust it.
If not, you could google and see how close MFP comes.
Hmm so looks like I’m closer to about 1250 cals plus the cheese so still about 1450 ish! Not bad for me being more sedentary!
Yup. When you go to add an item, there’s a small barcode icon on the top right. Just click on that and then use your phone to scan the bar code.
I love this feature.
Awesome, trying to get into OMAD, did the bacon challenge but didn’t get the same results, thinking maybe mixing OMAD and 2MAD with EF may help.
Depends on the brand. I compare the label with the MFP entry. If they match, I’m fairly confident it’s accurate. My current favorite 73/27 is from Kroger.
Mines from Aldis and I didn’t think to read the label, I freeze mine until needed so I never keep the packages
I buy the 5lb chub from Kroger, measure into 112g (4oz) servings and freeze each serving until used. That’s 20 days worth. But when I scanned the label it matched the MFP entry so I feel it’s accurate. When I was at Aldi looking for 70/30, they only had the 73/27. I know I prefer the Kroger over the Meijer/Walmart Valutime chubs so I opted to not try Aldi and just stick with Kroger. Valutime seems tough. Kroger 73/27 is like beef butter. I think we’ve discussed this on another thread.
Sometimes you can find the brands nutritional info through google right from the manufacture.
If not, there will come up multiple hits from sources such as MFP or Fitclick. If you check a couple and they show exactly the same info, it’s a safe bet it’s coming right from the packagings nutritional info box.
Btw- I just checked and both MFP and Fitclick have the exact same infor for Aldi’s 73/27 beef, so I think you’re fine going with MFP.
Sweet, thank you! Not super big on keeping track but just wondered how close it was so I have an idea for OMAD
Yes we have! Thank you for the Info, trying to do OMAD so trying to find out different meals I can make!
HAHA. My opinion is that Kroger 73/27 ground beef is more tender than the Valutime 73/27 you get at Meijer/Walmart, hence the term beef butter. It is also my opinion that I can notice the Kroger 73/27 looking more pink indicating more fat than the Valutime which appears more red (less fat). My third opinion is there is a noticeable amount more liquid fat that renders off the Kroger than the Valutime. These opinions are why I choose Kroger 73/27 over the Valutime 73/27.
