I was keto for a couple weeks and decided to fast so I did m/w/f 24 hr fast. Then I did sunday night to fri nght fast. Felt great the whole time. I eat keto on eat days, my keto sticks show ketosis Im still fasting m w f Though I feel good the weight on the scale just goes up and down the same two pounds. I eat meat and fish and greens and non starch vegs. I watch the carb and protein grams and add fat when necessary. I have at least 50 to 60 lbs to lose so its not like im struggling with the last 10 lbs. Any suggestions?
My weight stays the same
When do you consider adding fat when necessary and how much do you add? What is your calorie intake like? How do you eat after fasting? How long have you been keto?
ummmmm KCKO? KCFO?
Seriously, many here suggest get rid of the scale. See how your clothes fit, how you feel from one day to the next, and let the body heal itself at its own pace. As you heal your body, things will change - maybe not in the way that you want, but the change will happen. You are giving your body what it really wants now. It is an incredible highly evolved machine - you can’t out think it, and you can’t MAKE it do what your brain wants.
Give it time. It WILL happen - as it has for countless others - many examples right here
After fast I usually have bulletproof coffee in the am…some sort of protein/salad oil and vin dressing…I add fat to veg or maybe to meat if my meat is not fatty like chicken. I have not tracked cals as much as macros
KCKO!!! I shall write this in lipstick on my bathroom mirror lol. I am new at this but it seems people drop so much weight I thought I was missing something. Thanks for your encouraging message.
you are just starting your Keto Journey. Your body probably hasn’t even realized that the carbage poison is gone for good. most people need 2-6 weeks, or longer, to get fully fat adapted.
Then the Magic show starts.
How do you know you are fat adapted - hunger may abate, or disappear. The desire to eat constantly will abate. you will sleep better, and your non-stretchy clothes will start to fit better.
Then you can adopt IF/EF strategies to turbo charge your transformation, or just KCKO and let it happen…
All good!
I love that idea. I don’t know how my wife will like it when I destroy her lipstick doing this
What have your macros looked like? A lot of people here talk about a fast feast cycle. Eating like you mean it on non fast days.
I’m 40-60g protein 20 or less carb then I fill in blank with fat. I am new about a month.
Since you’re new, it may take a while for the weight loss to kick in. Also, you’re a woman, and your hormones complicate things—just ask any other woman on these forums! It doesn’t mean anything’s wrong, it just means that your body’s gonna do what your body’s gonna do. Women who have restricted calories for quite some time often find their bodies putting on lean muscle while burning off fat—hence the advice to keep track of your dress size, rather than your poundage. Muscle is much denser than fat tissue, so you can still lose inches without losing pounds.
If you’re giving your body enough energy, by eating fat to satiety, you can be sure that your basal metabolic rate will eventually increase, and your body will relax and start metabolizing all that extra fat.
