My Successful Keto Journey so Far

(Swift Machine) #1

I am 38 years old, 6 ft tall and have always been a big country boy. I started my journey 8 months ago when I reached a peak weight of 315 lbs. Now I was a big guy and at 6 ft tall I was was always told I hold my weight well and I get around good for my size, but I sure hated seeing my pictures.

Well one day in September of 2018 I was talking to a friend and they told me about keto, and my wife was also looking into it. So after some study we jumped right in, threw out all the carbs we loved and started a strict keto diet. In the first 3 weeks I lost 20lbs. I got so excited and decided to do some more research and find out all I could about keto… I continued and after 2 months I had lost 45 lbs. to be honest I didn’t see it, when I looked in the mirror, and I could barely tell it with my clothes but I was feeling like I was lighter.

About my 4th and 5th months I found a plateau. I would lose from 3 to 6 lbs a week, and this time it slowed to 1 lb every three weeks. I was getting very discouraged and furious. But then one day I dropped 5 lbs, and it would happen about every 4 weeks I would notice a 4- 6 lbs of weight loss.

It is June now, I am a total of 73lbs lighter than my peak weight. that means I am 242 lbs, with two cheat days the entire time I have been doing keto. I do find myself not worrying to much about ketosis since I know how to eat correctly and it is a lifestyle change now. I still have 32 lbs to go to hit my goal weight and I am hoping to be at it in 5 months from now.

Thanks for reading, Zach

Great story Zach. It’s similar to mine in that someone told me about keto at just the right time in my life. I’m not really religious but it makes me think that maybe an angel led me to keto just when I was nearing my breaking point, physically and mentally.

That is great, Zach, you are doing really well, amazing progress.

Best wishes for the loss of your remaining 32 pounds you want to lose, and all your other Keto goals.

Keep up the good work!

Good job bro :slightly_smiling_face: This Keto lifestyle is awesome ain’t it ?

BTW, I’m a big, 6ft guy too. I feel like the perfect weight for me is 225 or 230… And I weighed 225 this morning. Only problem is, I have a lot more fat to lose, which I’m feeling like that’s going to be super easy… And then I need to replace that with lean muscle… Which I know from experience is going to be really tough ! But I’ve been their once, so I know it’s possible :slightly_smiling_face:

Continued success to you as well :slightly_smiling_face:

Great testimony, Zach! My story is very similar; six feet tall, 300 lbs. carried my weight well. No one could believe how heavy I was until they saw before and after pictures.

Hey, if you’ve lost more than 19 lbs, you need to change your profile.
