My story with Keto now that I'm taking a recess

Hello all,
Lent is coming (the meatless period has already started), and I’m taking a recess from 7 months of Keto, I wanted to share my story.
I started having weight problems ever since I hit puberty, during high school I hit the gym and watched my food and I dropped from fat to slightly overweight, I graduated at ~100KGs on my 1.92m wide frame which was OK, in college and my 1st years of work, under the pressure of studying and new career, I balooned to 135KGs, When I was 25, I went to a dietician who gave me the normal “balanced” diet, with very little saturated fats, whole grains, chicken breasts and hit the gym again, 6 times a week, 1.5 hours each day, it was exhausting and time consuming, but I dropped to 105 in 2 years (very slow and frustrating progress), I shortly rebounded to 110 and stayed there.
I started regaining the weight after the birth of my first child, and was back at 135 after the 2nd, due to lack of exercise and taking liberty with food, I actually gave up on losing weight, I wasn’t able to follow the strict diet and invest that time a the gym.
By a chance, seven months ago, at a wedding party, I met a college freind who mentioned he’s been fasted for 40 hours, and that he’s following a “unique” diet, he sent me some Jason Fung lectures, Robert Lustig, and I started going down the rabbit hole alone, I watched Tim Noakes, Dr Berg, KetoConnect, etc… and started Keto, and the weight just vanished!
First month 9KGs, second, third and fourth 5KGs each, I am now 32KGs below my starting weight, at 102, this is my lowest since high school, all while enjoying food and enjoying life.
My diet consisted of Eggs (4 a day if I eat breakfast which I did 70% of the time), bacon, rib-eyes and fillet, lamb, butter, olive oil, little coconut oil and Green Veggies, I ate less than 10 fruits in 7 months, no sugar at all, no processed foods, I did eat cheese as a trreat but boy did I pay for it in the scale when I did, basically I did allow my slef to eat dairy, but I knew it would stall my progress.
I am now going vegan for ~2 months, no idea what I’ll do when they’re over, but I’ll definitely go back to keto at least 4-5 months a year.
Thanks for the priceless content you all provided and KCKO!

Regards.

Thanks for your post! I know that most folks on here are keto 100% of the time and I think that works really well for them. For those who can tolerate carbs, I’m curious what a more cyclical approach would look like (longer cycles as you’re describing) and I think there’s some evolutionary (and logical) basis for it. I hope you come back on to tell us how the vegan months went and how you’re feeling.

Just to clarify, I’m going vegan for religious reasons, it’s lent time in Catholic (and Orthodox) churches, it’s an old tradition that I like to keep following.

Yes, that’s clear! I think there’s a lot of (health) wisdom in old traditions
Best wishes -

I am currently trying this, eating a higher carb paleo with more veggies, gluten free (veggie based noodles), etc. I am not feeling much of an energy difference, and have not seen weight loss (although I did not on keto either). I am getting blood work done in a few weeks to compare
