Hello, sorry for my bad English

I started keto for 8 months and I began come off since 3 weeks ago, I have pcos and before keto, my period didn’t come if I don’t take birth control pill and after keto, my period come again every 40 days but since I began to transition out, my period stop again ( I should have period in 5/8/2021 ), up to now I didn’t have any signs it will come, even my carb intake still low and my body still at ketosis state ( 45g carb/day ). Does any one here have problem with period like this when transition out or increase carb intake ? I hope I can receive some advices.

Thank you and love you all.

Ps : my transition out plan is only complex carbs and slowly increase carbs intake with no IF ( I can’t do IF or anything like that )

Welcome to the forums.

You don’t say why you wish to resume eating carbohydrate, but if eating a low-carb/ketogenic diet regulated your hormones and gave you your period back, and a higher-carb diet is causing your period to go away again, then it appears you have a choice to make between having a functioning reproductive system and eating carbohydrate. Only you can decide which is more important to you.

Hello. I wonder if your problem is not related to keto or carbs at all. If you don’t regulate soon, I would talk to a doctor if possible.

Thank you for your advice, a lot of thing is happen right now, my city is lockdown 2 months and it’s hard to buy keto foods/veggie/meat, I’m from Asia and in my country, something like Olive oil, butter or anything like that which I usually use in Keto were expensive and now they’re more expensive than before ( the price were double or even triple ), and my doctor said I shouldn’t do it too long, I have some strange blood sugar level spike up before keto, and after 1 week of which I called, half-low carbs, my BS drops really fast without any medicine despite I still have carbs in the morning, so he and I want to stop to see if I truly have diabetes or not. Because of lockdown, I can’t go to see my doctor or any doctor right now, it’s a mess for anyone who wants to go out .

It’s hard to see a doctor right now, my city is lockdown because of Covid, we even can’t go outside without any emergency reasons, the only hospital in my district was converted to " Covid patient only " and my doctor is in another district, it’s a real mess and problem with police for anyone who wants to go out. I was staying at home for 2 months and the NEWS just told us we have to stay home for at least another month, I’ll try to see my doctor as soon as possible when I can :frowning:

I am so sorry to hear that. I looked up PCOS, as I had not heard of it before. What a terrible thing to deal with on your own. It sounds like you are dealing with untreated PCOS and keto may not make any difference for you. Then all you can do is eat as best as you can right now. Is it possible to call and talk to your doctor or nurse? Sorry, we have no answers for you.

I’d think at 45g you really shouldn’t notice a difference, especially if it’s only complex carbs. But ultimately any dietary change can do that, most likely going to just run it’s course. The hormonal effects of dietary changes are tricky to predict.

Different people react differently to when you bring the carbs back in, when I had zero metabolic flexibility if I even ate 40-60 vs my normal 20 I’d bloat up, feel like crap, and would wake up the next morning feeling like I spent all night drinking. Now I can eat 20ish all week long, eat 200 on a weekend day and NOTHING happens, do doubt there was just as much hormonal flux when I was feeling all the punishment from them.
