My ketones are lower but I’m losing weight faster

During my stall, my ketones were about 2.5-4.2
Now they’re more regularly in the 0.4-1.2 range but my weight loss has begun again. Is a lower ketone range better?

Recently, Dr. Andreas Eenfeld (dietdoctor.com) interviewed Matt and Megha of KetoConnect fame, and near the end, he discussed with them the fact that he and several other “keto gurus” compared ketone levels at a conference. All of them were in the .5-1.0 range. Your body is being efficient. KCKO!

All your blood ketone reading tells you is how much beta-hydroxybutyrate is circulating in your bloodstream. Even though it’s the best indicator we have of nutritional ketosis, it is not really that good a marker for how fat-adapted you are. If you are fat-adapted but not showing much serum BOHB, all it means is that your cells are using almost all of it that you’re producing.

I think the best indicator of nutritional ketosis is breath acetone. If one uses a device like a Ketonix there is a positive correlation to one’s level of nutritional ketosis and resultant weight loss.

This is a great read, I think you’ll enjoy it:

this is the definitive read on the subject. “keto adaptation” is a myth
