My dog just realized that he is eating way too many carbs and I have vowed to help him go keto. Anyone have a recipe for a low-carb dog food? I can’t imagine it would be as simple as throwing some ground beef in his bowl…or is it?
My dog wants to go keto
Dogs need more than just muscle meat.
Check out the BARF diet for dogs (biologically appropriate raw food for dogs).
You can make your own or buy prepared foods that fit this diet.
My pry has an ameloblastoma and before we decide on his course of treatment we are instituting a keto diet with CBD supplementation. As we have fed both our dogs organ meat (semi-cooked) with veggies and root vegetables switching to high fat- usually olive oil and butter along with the organs ( hearts, liver, kidneys from beef and pork).
I am looking for a dry dog food other than Primal that can meet their ketogenic needs. When I am at work I used to leave out kibbles for them to munch on as they see fit. Most times they didn’t preferring to wait for dinner. I still would like to leave some out if I can find a dry kibble that is ketogenic.
My two questions then are:
1: Anyone know of a good keto-dry kibble?
2: Keto pet sanctuary recommends the same ketosis range for dogs, .5-5 mmol as well as the same ratios. They offer no science only experience. Does anyone have any other sources of information on developing a curative nutrition plan?
