My dad and type 2 diabetes

(Cindi Crouse) #1

I just got back from visiting my dad who had shoulder surgery. He was in the hospital and he is a type 2 diabetic. He has stage 3 kidney disease and takes daily insulin injections. His diet prescribed by the nutritionist was 75 carbs a meal! I couldnt believe it. Am I missing something?

Ah, the standard american diet-it’s a killer

N=1

Keto allowed me to stop taking insulin and metformin for my T2 diabetes.

Yep, my diabetes nurse told me to have 45g carbs per meal, and I flatly refused. She’d run around like a headless chicken when she would take my blood lol “Do you feel faint right now” err no “But your blood reading is only 60!” yep…

18 months later that same nurse is now KETO :slight_smile: She refuses to tell people to eat that way ever again!

Good for her! And good for you, getting her to wake up! :+1:

Missing what? You know that’s too many carbs. The nutritionist/hospital doesn’t know any better, but you do.

Cindi, what are you able to do, in your position, to effect his diet? There’s enough information to prove the ketogenic diet can reverse type 2 diabetes, but can you get him to change and start eating this way?
