Mthfr

#1

I just learned that I have the MTHFR C677T. After doing some reading, sounds like going Keto last October was the best thing I could have done for my health. Anybody have any advise that can help me on this new journey? Thanks.

Just to keep calm and keto on! :+1:

Keep carbs around 20 g. protein moderate and fat to satiety.

According to foundmyfitness, good intake of choline is important. Choline is found in foods such as eggs, meat, fish and cruciferous vegetables. So make sure you get plenty of those.

I wonder if I’m the only one pronouncing that gene abbreviation the way I do. I recently watched a video in which the lecturer (whose name I’ve forgotten) took pains to spell it out every time.

Yup, that is it.

I have the gene. I also take Super B-Complex – Methylated B Complex Vitamins twice a day. I eat eggs, meat and Omega 3 (DHA) sources of fish.

I lucked out I don’t have that one, just a closely related one, I need extra choline because of it. Just don’t have all the additional risks associated with MTHFR gene.

In what way did this affect you. I do MB vitamins and don’t normally eat many cruciferous veggies but I do eat some.

Wow. Thanks for the details. I’m always amazed at the variation we each have in how we respond to our environment, our food and the meds we take.

Thanks again

Sorry you had a hard time with them. You make a very good point. If you don’t eat those choline veggies regularly, many don’t, best to be careful

I have never not eaten greens, mustard, collards, bok choy, spinach and all the lettuces in my life, same with cruciferous veggies. I would go into my aunt’s garden and eat them as soon as they were edible. Turns out, that was probably my genes telling me to eat that stuff you need it. More eggs is what I have added. I used to eat eggs rarely, but now almost daily and not just one a day either.

Doubt it … we all have filthy minds and mouths don’t we?

We all do  I saw the topic and said “aaa, the mother f*****gene”
