Thank you for posting this.

Just the summary was all I needed to read, I totally agree.

Implications of all the available evidence
Removing current restrictions on fat intake but limiting carbohydrate intake (when high) might improve health. Dietary guidelines might need to be reconsidered in light of consistent findings from the present study, especially in countries outside of Europe and North America.

It’s very interesting to see something like this published in The Lancet, of all places.

Important to remember that association is not causation. This is something that’s often called out when we don’t like the conclusion (e.g. - meat causes cancer!!!), but it’s just as applicable when the results are favorable to our chosen WoE.

Agreed. But it’s nice to see an opposing view based on a long-term study in a publication like the Lancet.

I agree with you regarding the carbohydrate part of the conclusion but the lack of association between fat and poor health is very meaningful. It should (justifiably) be seen as a strong rebuttal to the decades of vilification fat has received.

Andrew I agree with you and thank you for pointing that out. In retrospect, I should have made that same comment in my first post. As we attempt to navigate the seas of information we traverse on this journey, we need to steer the safest course. The venue of this publication notwithstanding.
