Morning low blood sugar

(Melinda Barker) #1

I’m new to Keto. Only two weeks in but the last two mornings I’ve woken up with low blood sugar. Can anyone tell me why and how do I prevent this from happening?

Are you diabetic? How low is low? What was your blood sugar before keto? And are you symptomatic at all?

(Melinda Barker) #3

Not diabetic at all. Athletic with great muscle tone. I haven’t done any testing except to see if I’m in Ketosis.

Also curious what “low” means and if it’s a problem in some way.

How do you know you have low blood sugar if you’re not testing? Are you feeling hypoglycemic-- hungry, shaky, sweaty, tremoring?

(Melinda Barker) #6

Yes, fast heartbeat, sweating, dizzy, shaking.

How are you getting your electrolytes? Have you seen the recipe for ketorade? I hope this helps.

No but I’ll look it up!! Thank you.

That may be low blood pressure, not necessarily low blood sugar. And most definately symptoms of electrolyte depletion.

That sounds like keto flu. Increase your sodium, potassium and magnesium.

Thank you !
