More interesting DNA finds

So ive been exploring the results of my DNA and it seems some of my DNA suggests im part of a group that would do better on a Low Fat diet than on a low carb diet. (Potentially 2.5x more weight loss on Low Fat) Its something like 40ish percent does better on Low carb and 40ish percent do better on low fat. With the remainder it doesnt matter.

I was shocked because i feel like i’ve been doing really well on LCHF. I’ve been hoovering around 170 for quite a while now and ive been wondering if i should lower my fat in take but continue to not eat refined carbs. I still have a fair bit of belly fat. The problem with that is that what am i supposed to eat so as to not be hungry??? I feel like the fat is what keeps me from gorging on pastries.

I still am trying to figure out why these genes supposedly make an individual fall into one group or the other.

40% doesn’t necessarily mean you. Certainly some cultures are better at handling carbs but it’s a slippery slope between sweet potatoes and pasta and ice cream. So, tread carefully and document your progress or lack of progress. I would think paleo would be healthiest. So, tubers and smorgasbord of fruit. Enjoy some mango for me

Are you using Promethease reports? The one @richard discussed in a podcast? If so be sure to read the information about Heterozyg vs.Homozyg info as well as the magnituded. Basically you really don’t have to be too concerned about anything that isn’t at a magnitude of at least 3 or higher. I started a thread under Health to discuss understanding the reports:

On another note, the not losing lately might just call for an over all reexamination of your macros. Try a few days of more fat, less carbs. If that doesn’t budge, try a few days with less fat with more carbs. Everyone is different, find your own sweet spot.

I am using prometheous. I did not know there was a podcast about it though.

My DNA says the same, just find what works for you.

On the 2dudes website there is a link to 23andme and Promethease - personal DNA report. The whole podcast wasn’t about it but it is in the portion where @Richard and @Carl discuss how their week was. I am so glad they mentioned all this on the show.
