Ha! The first time I had roasted nuts was a real eye-opener. Talk about ‘magic’…
Mistake- I ate a whole pound of macadamia nuts in 2 days
…but, but, but…my packet of macadamia nuts says “What is a serving size? Macadamia nuts are self-regulating” lol
I say, stuff happens. Move on from here and do whatever you need to not to repeat the same mistake over and over.
P.S., there are a lot worse things you could have done…
Macadamia is my downfall as well. I ended up eating 250g on Saturday. Great if portioning helps though I know I would still work my way through them. I buy almonds in 100g bags but again, once the bag is open, I have to finish it. I think the best bet is to have them as treat food once a month, at least if you are trying to lose weight.
I buy them in 100 calorie packs and it makes a world of difference to me. In my head, the unit of consumption is still 1 bag… and it doesn’t seem to matter what size it is.
That’s why portioning works for me. Obviously if I were feeling very weak, I might scarf a couple or three, but still much better than having the open big bag…
I could easily do that myself, in a day, but I try to refrain. They are my go to fat, especially if I am finding myself in grazing mode, which thank goodness doesn’t happen too often. Macs usually stop it in its tracks…
Dave Feldman and @carl both talked about using them to add fat to their meals before getting a lipoprofile panel done, both had better CHOL numbers after doing that.
I have the same issue… However I’m vegan so I get most my fats/proteins from things like seeds, nuts, avocados, and coconut sources. I’m a binge eater, I’m breastfeeding my 2 month old, have one child with special needs, I run, and powerlift. I try to justify eating an entire jar of natural peanut butter or an entire bag of macadamia nuts… But I know it brings weight back up, and my mood down. So what my husband and I are forced to do is portion out EVERYTHING, put it in a huge Tupperware, and he keeps it in his truck, then he brings in appropriate servings before work each day.
