Miss sometimes to carbs i used to eat

carbs

(Ryan) #1

I started keto almost a week ago, i started it with an extremely decrease amount of carbs( went from roughly 120 carbs per day to roughly 30) , and somehow the change didn’t affect me that much, of course there are sometimes that i feel tired but i was surprised that i got used to the new diet so fast.
But yesterday, out of nowhere i was really starving and i just wanted to eat a piece of bread with some ketchup with some chicken breast , and i almost did but i decided not to…
Do you have sometimes those surprises with your mind about carbs?
What should i do with them?

Cravings have a physiological and mental component. Address the physiological component by eating a big meal that is on plan. Being full is a good deterrent for cravings. Address the mental component by delayed gratification. I never tell myself that I can’t have something, I tell myself that I just can’t have it right now.

Yes, that would have been a good detail to include

Yes, I believe a large part of it is psychological and mental. We associate certain foods with comfort, celebration, romance, or something else. Then there’s habit and convenience: get home from work–or go to the fridge during the commercial–and wolf down some [whatever]; don’t even have to think about it.

My belief is reinforced by reading about what others crave. Many of them are things I don’t enjoy. So I figure it has more to do with one’s own upbringing, lifestyle, etc., not a physical desire for ketchup or potatoes or apples.

You can do this! Good luck.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #7

So chopped chicken liver, then.
