Mind games

I am sticking to the keto foods and doing well . My pants are starting to fall down which is great start . Still have to talk myself when making food that it’s ok to eat butter and fatter food . Grew up with meat and potatoes and veggies . I am using about. 1900 calories a day 130 g of protein 130 g of fat and below 15g or carbs at 6’2” and 274 now . My mind keeps saying you can’t be full your eating to much meat or eggs. You have to eat smaller and less calories and more veHa. Just goes to show us how they play mind games with low fat items instead of the real problems and your taught this as a kid. And I have done that with my girls . Luckily they are not emotional eaters and into fitness

So true. Marketing is a remarkably powerful influence in our perceptions of what’s what. And then we pass along these beliefs to our children - an even more powerful path of imprint - and so on.

Show me the science.

What. But you eat little… I ate more as a very sedentary 35 years old short woman when I was above 160lbs… And I lost fat nicely (I was not anywhere close to keto but it doesn’t matter to my fat-loss, I ate little enough. Usually 2000 kcal, sometimes more as I just can’t eat this little each and every day). Slowly but my body needed the food and I did lost fat despite my surely smaller energy need. You have more fat, that helps so you probably can get away with bigger deficits but 1900 kcal isn’t too much. If you need it, eat it, even more sounds okay.

So it’s very strange to me that you with your big body want to eat EVEN less than your little intake…!

It’s very unfortunate if your mind tries to cling to low-fat. I hated low-fat all my life so I avoid low-fat items and go for the fattiest ones… Sadly, I can’t afford as much fat as I wish… I barely eat more than you on my best days… I rarely eat a bit beyond 200g… And it’s not much. Much for my energy need (but I do it very occasionally so it’s fine) but for yours…? If you gain or stall (no loss for many weeks), you can worry about things then. But 1900 seems a very very modest intake for you.

Is there too many eggs? Well I guess, we need other items too… I eat only 6-12 a day, it sounds perfect to me. Who cares some people would get shocked?

I hated all the low-fat years also. And was terrified when I added a dollop of butter to my morning coffee and LOVED IT. Scared I would start gaining back the weight I’d already lost (about half of what I wanted to lose), but it didn’t happen. I continued to lose in fits and spurts as one does.

Keep with it. It gets easier, and second nature eating proper food and rejecting what we’ve been told for 50 years.
