Micronutrients found in MEAT vs Plants comparison

(David Solberg) #21

I’m all for eating meat, but this is seriously biased.
For example:
• Vitamin E, which is generally considered very healthy, is downplayed as “?not essential?” while iron, which many people (esp. men) have too much of, has no caveat at all, just pro-meat bioavailable info.
• The listing for Selenium is bizarre… there is only one plant (Brazil nut) that is likely to have anywhere close to toxic levels of Selenium, and Selenium is otherwise very healthy.
• Important electrolytes like Magnesium are entirely missing from this list.

Meat is very nutrient dense, and quite healthy, especially when people eat the whole animal (skin, organs, etc — not just muscle), but this list seems to be actively finding ways to attack plant foods. When I read this, I see someone with an agenda who is willing to ignore any contradictory information.
