Merry Christmas all! 2 months near ZC going full binge tomorrow

(Robert) #21

I too planned on eating Xmas desserts after 5 of saying no. My daughter made two desserts and my lovely made two types of ice cream ( I know!). This morning I woke up feeling slightly groggy but otherwise rested and okay. To be honest I probably needed to binge a bit! Wishing y all a happy new year :sunglasses:

And Kirk is probably the target of an Alien Me Too movement!

Scheduling a nap with a 2 year old in the house?

#24

Wifes brother just showed up 2 year old sleeping time for me to follow his lead

I may or not have had a slice of pie with whipped cream, 5 Nanaimo bars, 5 cookies, 2 cups of egg nogg and a bowl of chips with dip. Feeling the bloat but going to see if I can nap it off and continue when the turkey and prime rib is done.

Ate like crap, tomorrow the guilt will get me, slightly bloated, sure the scale will go up about 10lbs in the next two days, have all next week off so 2 a days at the gym and two long walks with the dog everyday. Was cutting prior to today and yesterday so back at it! Now it’s the challenge of how much damage control along with forward progress I can make when I don’t have the excuse of work getting in the way!

Happy to report today was a no different than any other day, food wise. However, I can’t really boast about it. No family here, no gatherings, and still in moving mode. Christmas was just a blip on the radar. And I’m ok with that.

I had some christmassy food. I find that going straight from keto to high carb holiday food elevates my heart rate, blood pressure, and causes bowel irregularities—specifically elevated gas and solids not of normal solidity. The bowel affect probably has to do with digestive bacteria not being ready for the junk I guess. Once when I over-feasted after a fast I had a Vegas nerve spasm. That was abject misery.

Happy to report I stayed on plan and feel wonderful doing just that. Physically and mentally and more important of the 2 is mentally  I am one to go down the rabbit hole in an instant, straight into days of carby eating so I know where I had to hold.

Can’t wait to hear others reports on how they did. Hope everyone came thru fine.

The last time I threw caution to the wind and ate a hamburger with the bun, the next day I felt hungover. So, I cannot go overboard. At Thanksgiving, I will eat stuffing and it does not cause any ill effects other than my wanting to eat more. Lol.

Yesterday, I did not deviate from my normal WOE and I gave it no thought. I don’t keep anything around the house that I cannot eat and my parents don’t have anything sitting out either - like bowls of candy or trays of cookies.

I hope you bounce back quickly.

so from your other post: So this post is about me getting serious about becoming a successful loser. I’m plateaued at 202 because of compromise. So here’s the plan to get another 42 lbs flushed off my organs.

When are you starting your new list of your new lifestyle?

Is this a new year type of list?

I only say this cause it is so conflicting. Christmassy food and your new list for your new health journey?

Not being combative but wondering when you are going all in serious on what you feel you require for big change

Maybe just a shout out to see old habits die hard in a way. What excuses we will use, like a holiday or ?? that tons of us had to fight against to truly change our lives long term and change our mindsets to make it work for us.

Only wishing you the best way forward in what you want. Actions only confirm our desire to change if we want it alot. Actions speak so much more than volumes of words of what we want outta our journey in life.

I do something similar every Christmas. For me, the trick is not to let it run into weeks. That happened last year for the first time and I vowed never to repeat it.

So far, I have been quite modest and the good part is I appreciate how much better I feel on a KD.

It’s also worth mentioning that I also keep working out and being active, which definitely helps when it comes to mindset.

I just remembered that when I visited my aunt in October, I ate much more carbs. I kept my OMAD and felt great  I can’t eat too much carbs to cause problems in days if I eat only once. As I obviously start with a big amount of fatty protein… I can’t imagine a tempting carby food that makes me abandon my normal, best food even for a day… Even if I happened to start with a carby food (still not sweet, fatty and protein rich as I need food to satiate and satisfy me), I immediate desire my normal one as well. So going super high-carb is just impossible for me. Actually, I always had my limits as I had to fit more fat than carbs and much protein into my days all my life. But OMAD and my keto/carnivore habits help a lot now and it’s needed as my body wouldn’t be very happy with my old crazy days. It could handle one though but I would miss the contentment of my normal days.

I have certain problems to drop my carbs as much as I want but it’s Christmas and we visited a neighbour… After I ate keto but not carni food (there is a fun soup with sauerkraut)… But I am getting there and I am low enough to feel fine.
And I am getting stronger again, my workout yesterday went so well!

Way to go!

Yer right. Compromise dies hard. Ugh, did it again. But I’m not giving up.

#36

I feel ya on that :sunny: Big change never comes easy to any one of us mostly

How did it go for you?

I did something similae once and ended up with edema, swollen over my whole body. Basically, going from deep keto fasted two pretty much binging lots of cake salty food alcohol etc did some damage for real. These days I find it better to not be too deep in ketosis before loading up on insulin spikes. Likely better to work out hard and fast afterwards than before.

It was an absolute beautiful disaster.

I was so bloated I could hardly sleep. Was kept up all night by gas buildup in the stomach greater than I had ever experienced in my life up to that point. I would pass gas through belching all through the night that felt amazing due to the pressure relief on my stomach. It was always short lived as the gas would be back within a few minuets.

I ate as I pleased the next day. This continued until the 28th. I began a Ketogenic diet again near ZC.
I kicked it off with a 40+ hour fast. This lasted for 3 days. The 30th was my sons 2nd birthday and I was easily persuaded by friends and family to partake in the cake. The same thing of course for new years eve.

I started back again by fasting for a day and eating keto/near ZC and have been since. It was a hell of a ride I learned a lot and am back to where I was now pre Christmas. I truly believe I gained 10lbs in pure adipose during the time I went off the rails. Some things tasted amazing as they always did other favorites I could care less for and that surprised me. Egg nog did nothing for me but pie and cool whip or ice cream was a huge hit.

I would like to add that during the first few hours of the day when I broke my 3 day fast and ate a few cookies my muscles filled up and I looked absolutely insanely jacked until later in the night when I went full gluttony mode.

I picked up a barbell and some plates 2 days ago and I might start having carbs around my workouts soon. I would like to workout for a decent while on zero carbs to gather a baseline.

Thank you for the report. Good luck getting where you want to go.

Agreed.
