I’ve been doing Keto for 4 weeks, in menopause for almost 2yrs with no period. I just started spotting today with cramps. What is going on??? I’m 50yrs old. Help!!
Menopause for 2 yrs & period has started
I spotted monthly for several months as I was losing 50 pounds, and I was more than 10 years past menopause. I attributed it to myfat cells releasing estrogen. It stopped when I stopped losing.
First off, I wouldn’t be too concerned. Same thing happened to me and I wasn’t doing keto. I made an appointment with my doctor and she just called it a rogue period. Not a medical term by far but she didn’t find anything else. Even had an ultrasound. And no period from then on and that was about 5 years ago. I would check in with your doctor just to be sure. Isn’t being a women grand! Seriously, we are a tough breed. KC & KO.
Yes. An ovary releasing an egg will give an estrogen surge, and fat burning will also give an estrogen surge. Your uterus only senses the estrogen surge and sheds its lining accordingly. One can result in pregnancy, and the other is “rogue.” Protect yourself accordingly, just in case!
Have your bleeding stop yet? I had been on menopause for 3 years and keto for more than 2 years. I started light bleeding about a month ago and it’s still on. I am wondering if my bleeding for over a month is normal?
If you’ve been in full menopause for 3 years then it’s worth being seen by a doctor. It may well just be hormonal shifts (we don’t stop producing hormones just produce a lot less of them) bet better to be safe
@anon54735292 Thank you for your reply. I just want to know if any one had similar experience as mine. So I can assume whether it’s normal or not. I am also looking for a Keto friendly OBGYN near Memphis, TN metropolitan area
