Melbourne HC Lattee

On vacation in Melbourne Australia and so far have been unable to get my go to treat a heavy cream (or thickened cream here) latte not even in a Starbucks… What’s with that?

Melbourne sucks? :stuck_out_tongue:
Lol, honestly, heavy whipping cream in coffee is just not a thing here, it should be though.

Melbourne is the coffee capital of Australia so Melbournians are very particular about their coffee. A city barista might view cream in coffee like a chef sees a steak well-done.
I’m in Brisbane and have no problem getting cream in my coffee just about everywhere I go - if sitting-in, it usually comes on the side in a very generous serve.
You might strike problems if you ask for ‘heavy whipping cream’ - that’s not a thing here. We call it ‘cream’ or ‘pouring cream’ and ‘thickened cream’ in Australia.
You can also order Vienna coffees (long back with whipped cream) most places - just check that the whipped cream does not contain sugar. I even get these from drive-through at McDonald when desperate.

Yup tried 2 different Starbucks and 5 or 6 coffee shops and none of them had heavy cream or thickened cream. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to they couldn’t (or so they said)…
Obviously I follow keto so HCream is my only choice any other cream or milk won’t cut it and HCream is part of how I meet my fat requirements. Not To mention I’m diabetic so I stay away from milk for that reason alone.

Also in Australia there’s no such thing as drip coffee your choice is a long black which is essentially an americano, sorry I like plain black coffee and it’s a lot cheaper than expresso so if you want coffee in Australia while you are out and about better budget a lot more money for your trip

@VictorL go into the supermarket and get a tub of double cream. Add as much as you like to that awesome Melbourne coffee. It’s summer, so to get you drip coffee ask for a cold brew.

Avoid the thickened cream. The thickening agent is bogus.

Australia is such a crappy place. Best that nobody else come here. Victor is right.

Pauline I truly enjoyed our trip Australia is a very interesting place. I was disappointed I couldn’t get a HC Latte anywhere we went. At my sons house we made coffee with a French press, so at home that was fine for coffee (not a real fan of French press coffee to crunchy).
When I’m out all day my treat is a HC Latte, can’t see myself carrying a container of my own cream and I don’t care for coffee with cream I prefer the steamed product… heck I don’t even carry water cause I only drink it in times of dire need I prefer taste and since pop and juice are out that leaves coffee or tea oh well my loss and the economy of Australia didn’t get to profit.
