MCT oil is making my belly burn

(Mel ) #1

I just took MCT oil for the first time.
I mixed 1 table spoon with 2 servings of isopure protein powder. Also my fist time drinking isopure.

I only drank about half ( maybe slightly more) = 1/2 tablespoon of MCT and 1 serving of isopure protein powder.

My tummy is very WARM.

I feel like I just ate bowl of super spicy curry.

Has anyone else experienced this with MCT oil or isopure protein powder?

I have been keto for 3 months.

Hopefully you’re at home. That warm tummy may turn into warm squirts. Mct can be a little harsh in the beginning for some people. Me included.

I had some bad bathroom reactions when i first started it. Try starting with 1 tsp and working your way up

I had those issues as well cuz I wanted to believe my body could handle anything smh A very disturbing lesson to learn while away from home & a toilet EWWW

Way too much to start off with. Start with one teaspoon and stick with it until your body is OK with that.

As a side note, whey protein is pretty much the most insulingenic protein. Not.sure what your goal in taking it is, but it might be relevant.

And whey protein causes digestive distress in lots of people too.

Yep, this is exactly what happens to me when I ingest MCT oil - an uncomfortable, burning feeling in my stomach. No bathroom issues at all, fortunately, but the stomach sensation is not pleasant and lasts a while. And it can happen even with small amounts (say 5-7 ml).

I’ve tried various kinds of MCT oils (with different C8/C10 ratios, for example), but the results seem to be the same. So basically I’ve given up on the stuff - I never experienced any clear benefits which would justify continued use.

May I ask why are you consuming MCT? LCHF doesn’t require it. I consider it a waste of money.

Protein messes my stomach up; it might be that as well. There’re too many variables to isolate it to the MCT at this point. In any case, I started enjoying the ride with MCT oil. It’ll clean ya out good

I never had any other issues other than the warm tummy. The warm feeling subsided after about an hour.

I’m going to give it a try again.
