@collaroygal it’s not necessarily ‘fast mimicking’… it’s a way to provide energy and a little boost to prolong fasted periods for some people. It’s a way to give your body that signal of satiety, and can let people go longer with their fasts. As far as i have read, MCT doesn’t spike BS levels, therefore, leaving you in a ‘fasted state’. I can see where you might think this mimics a fast, since you are consuming calories though. I have decided to only consume during my eating window, but some people still do during their fast & that’s still okay, you can fast in your own way. Whatever works for you & whatever your goals are.

@RobC @collaroygal Coincidentally Jason Fung is where I got my information. At IDM Fat Fasting has proven to be a powerful tool. Both varieties of it, and there are two common usages of the term among the keto community. Maybe an update of your knowledge is in order.

The ketogenic diet is a fast mimicking diet.

Not the way I eat on the ketogenic diet. I can eat a lot of calories on eating days, they do not even equal a mimicking of fasting.

YMMV.

@collaroygal

On a high carb diet you store glycogen.

When fasting you deplete glycogen start and start to burn fat.

A ketogenic diet is one where we still eat and burn fat.

This is the fast mimicking aspect of a ketogenic diet. :cowboy_hat_face:
