McDonalds - goodbye to create your own - goodbye to bunless burger

Tonight I worked late at our Committee Meeting and thought I’ll just grab a bunless burger from Macca’s - you know Create Your Own.

I drove home, went in and stood at that damn computer ordering screen for 5 mintues looking for how to make my burger.

So I went over to the serving counter - and asked - where is the create your own.

THEY NO LONGER HAVE THAT!!! WHAT!!! Usually you could order whatever you wanted - but now they’ve replaced it with this other burger crap.

I know probably if I want I could deconstruct but the create your own was such a great idea…anyway thanks for letting me have a big rant!!!

The girl behind the counter gave me the flyer for the new gourmet burgers and I just gave it back and said - there is nothing there for me!

Devo!!!

I will send in my formal complaint tomorrow! They said something like - oh well people didn’t really use that other one too much!

What about my bunless burger!!!

What part of the country? In So Cal, all burger places understand and serve protein style.

It’s not CYO, but when I’m on the road I just order a double cheeseburger without the bun and ask for cutlery when I order. :+1:

Definitely great idea Kate - will be doing that - this was just so awesome, fresh bunless burger in a big lettuce leaf with all of the ingredients I wanted.

Such a shame!

Don’t let fear hold you back @baconrun, what’s the worst they can do? Say no? Food allergies are so common these days that modifications don’t phase people in the food industry. Of course, you can always just order a burger as usual and ditch the bun…just remember to grab extra serviettes! :grin:

Oh heck no. How else do they get a clue what the customer wants? This is how customer trends are detected. If no one asks, they don’t learn and adjust. And in a world of capitalism and small profit margins, having an advantage over the competition is a good thing.

Oh I got that here in France…

“No we can’t do that because it wont hold together”

“I don’t care, just dump it in the box”

“Nope”

I did however get a nice green salad with a lovely dressing (hazelnut oil and balsamic) instead of fries in the meal deal which is cheaper than ordering burger and drink - go figure! I hate waste though so annoying to get the bun and have to scrape off the sauce.

That’s nuts, it’s not hard. I recently tried to order a souvlaki without the bread to wrap it in…the guy just could not get it. After 10 minutes I just gave up. :joy: Thankfully though, that’s the only real failure I’ve had so far.

It’s crazy isn’t it? As long as there is a container of some kind, you just dump it in there. I think they have this protocol of them all having to look ‘right’ or something?

I think you’re right. Though the fish ‘n’ chip shop dude had no excuse - they sell an item called a ‘snack pack’ over here, which is basically shaved meat with some salad, sauce (gravy or garlic, chilli, etc. sauce), bread on the side and hot chips all dumped into a take away box. He kept trying to sell me one of those, and I kept trying to explain the concept of no chips or bread and it just confused him…after all, who doesn’t want the “good stuff?!”

Yeah, like, what part of no chips, no bread are you failing to get?

It’s a bit like asking for butter with bread in France (not that I have bread anymore). You get bread with all meals but butter? Nope! You can always spot the Brit or US if they dare to ask for butter!
