Managing gastroparesis on a ketogenic diet

#1

So I’ve had gastroparesis and intestinal dysmotility for a number of years and have been eating a ketogenic diet for about nine months which has helped with other health issues. However, my GI symptoms have been getting harder to manage in the last few months and multiple times a week I’m throwing up undigested food 6+ hours after a meal + I feel quite sick and have significant abdominal distension almost permanently. I typically eat three meals and one snack a day in order to get enough calories. However with trying to eat enough I’m only drinking 600-800ml water a day since fluids sit in my stomach for ages too.

I’d love some advice on what you think are the most nutrient dense foods I should eat. My plan is to pick 5-10 foods that give enough variety to meet my needs and eat these exclusively for a few weeks to see if this helps improve my symptoms. If it turns out all the suggestions are animal-based, I’m fine with that. Likewise, if most are plant-based, as long as they don’t ferment too much and are easy to digest, I’ll give them a try. If you think a specific ratio of fat to protein would help please explain why. Currently I eat about 1.2:1 fat:protein but I’m intrigued by the paleolithic ketogenic 2:1 approach advocated for by the paleomedicina clinic to improve intestinal permeability. If you have tried greater than a 1.5:1 ratio please could you share your experience!

If anyone thinks altering meal frequency/timings could help please let me know. Also, I would be very appreciative of any other suggestions for things I could try/look into. Thank you.

I can’t speak for myself but my daughter was extremely ill with gastroparesis and many other symptoms for many years. She could only eat steamed zucchini. She also was bedridden and housebound and I took care of her. There are two things that helped her recovery. First was Pulsed Electro Magnetic Therapy. If you can find a knowledgeable practitioner it can do wonders for gastroparesis!! The second and most important thing she did was Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS). It can repair your body. I thought she was way to far gone for a mind-body treatment to be effective (after all, this was a medical condition) but amazingly it worked for her and continues to work. https:// www.retrainingthebrain.com. This program gets phenomenal results for many illnesses.
My best to you. I know this is difficult.
