Better late than never

Dr David Unwin in ITV news

I notice even in this article with its positive spin on Dr. Unwin (finally!!), they throw in the water-muddying contrary expert to tell us about the potential dangers of all that fat and cholesterol. It’s right out of the tobacco playbook. “We just don’t know! Be afraid, be confused, and keep following the old advice, because we just don’t know!”. :rage:

"Dr Shivani Misra, an endocrinology consultant at Imperial says low carb diets have been linked to higher cholesterol levels.

“We know people with high cholesterol have a higher risk of future heart attacks and strokes,” Dr Misra told ITV News.

“So does that mean that someone who does a low carb diet with high fat and then develops a high cholesterol, what does that mean for their risk? These are the sorts of questions that I want to answer and I don’t think we know the answer to those at the moment.”

Yeah, this has been proven wrong a million times already. But they will never stop. Statin business is huge.

I didn’t have time to wait until they get their act together. I was barreling down the hill towards diabetes/metabolic disease. Had I ‘waited’ until “they knew”, I would be a very sick individual by now.

The biggest problem for many people is the addictive nature of high carb foods and as we know, just a little bit is enough to keep the addiction going. It had to be ‘all or nothing’ for me and as a result I have lost 65+ lbs., normalized my blood pressure and my lipid panel/A1C are all in the very good range.

This after almost 18 years of keto. They just don’t know but I do!!!:grinning:

She began trying Dr Unwin’s diet and less than six months later, she is in remission.

“I’m three stone lighter,” Sally said. “I’m off five of the tablets that I’ve been on for 20 years, which is utterly ridiculous… I’m just feeling like a whole new person.”

Amazing results. You lose three stone (60 pounds? about 30 kg?), get off 5 pills, yet if your LDL goes up at all you will have a higher chance of heart disease? Does that make sense to anyone?

This is the problem with being focused on one metric.

And it is just a hypothesis… the lipid hypothesis. Not fact - just a theory!!!
