I notice even in this article with its positive spin on Dr. Unwin (finally!!), they throw in the water-muddying contrary expert to tell us about the potential dangers of all that fat and cholesterol. Itâs right out of the tobacco playbook. âWe just donât know! Be afraid, be confused, and keep following the old advice, because we just donât know!â.
"Dr Shivani Misra, an endocrinology consultant at Imperial says low carb diets have been linked to higher cholesterol levels.
âWe know people with high cholesterol have a higher risk of future heart attacks and strokes,â Dr Misra told ITV News.
âSo does that mean that someone who does a low carb diet with high fat and then develops a high cholesterol, what does that mean for their risk? These are the sorts of questions that I want to answer and I donât think we know the answer to those at the moment.â

She began trying Dr Unwinâs diet and less than six months later, she is in remission.
âIâm three stone lighter,â Sally said. âIâm off five of the tablets that Iâve been on for 20 years, which is utterly ridiculous⌠Iâm just feeling like a whole new person.â
Amazing results. You lose three stone (60 pounds? about 30 kg?), get off 5 pills, yet if your LDL goes up at all you will have a higher chance of heart disease? Does that make sense to anyone?
This is the problem with being focused on one metric.
And it is just a hypothesis⌠the lipid hypothesis. Not fact - just a theory!!!
