I can’t seem to hit macro scale I’m lacking protein but when i put more protien i over do my fats !!

You may have to try some leaner meat. Protein is the one macro you really do need to hit.

(Jayne Bell Cabirac) #3

I wondered about that thanks:grinning:

(Allie) #4

What macros are you aiming for?

Keto is this easy (Keto for beloved noobs)

This is for Phase One - the starter phase. it’s still not complicated later, but this is the really easy to explain version which will help you no end.

  • Eat under 20g of carbs a day

  • Eat plenty of good food - fat and protein - while adhering to 20g/carbs/day. Don’t worry too much about macros and calories EXCEPT carbs. Keep them below 20g/day. Your job is to get fat-adapted, so give your body the fuel you want it to use. Also, your appetite will vary - it’ll disappear, then it’ll come roaring back. Happens to most people, don’t sweat it.

  • ELECTROLYTES/SALT - KEEP THEM UP

  • This site has a search function (magnifying glass at the top of the page) and a newbies section - use them both, you’ll get a better variety of answers to your questions far more quickly that way. SERIOUSLY, THIS IS VERY USEFUL.[1]

That’s as difficult as it needs to be for a couple of months.

My good friend Terence (being friends with a Kiwi feels kinda dirty, but there you have it, keto makes for strange bedfellows) tells me this thing I have described above is called “dirty keto.” So yeah, do dirty keto, kids!

(Allie) #7

But what numbers are you aiming for?

(Jayne Bell Cabirac) #8

92 protien, 10carb, 69fat 1023cal

I think what Juice said is a good start for someone new to keto. Don’t worry about fat. at 69g, you really should increase that while bringing protein down a bit. Also, 1023 calories is not enough. You’ll do your metabolism harm if you continue to keep your calories that low. More information would be very helpful as to your height/weight/activity level/ health issues, etc.

(Allie) #10

Why so low on fats and calories?
Body needs fuel to work… protein may be a bit high. Where did you get these numbers from?

Honestly for now just get used to having carbs below 20g and let your appetite guide you in how much food you need. Do not limit calories.

(Karen) #11

You don’t have to hold you calories too fixed.

(Jayne Bell Cabirac) #12

I did a macro manager check thanks i will check this out.

My advice would be to quit with the apps, focus on keeping your carbs low and don’t worry about protein and fat consumption just eat when you’re hungry and eat well for now. When your body has adapted you can fine tune the protein and fats but don’t limit them now. Eat till you’re satisfied. Follow what @juice has posted, you’ll be fine. It’s best to keep your own carb stats rather than depending on an app in my opinion, it’s good training for what’s ahead and more accurate since you know the exact quantities you are eating. Get a digital kitchen scale if you don’t have one and I found this Atkins pdf carb counter very useful getting started and still reference it from time to time.
