Macadamia - headache

(Allie) #1

I decided to treat myself to some ridiculously expensive macadamia nuts. I don’t normally buy them due to the cost, but it was just a 100g bag (5g net carbs). An hour after eating them, I have a strange fuzzy feeling headache that is similar to a caffeine withdrawal headache (but I know it’s not that). Has anyone ever encountered this? I’m wondering if there’s something in them that my body maybe just isn’t used to…

I have not experienced this. Sorry I cannot help.

Strange. I eat macadamia nuts every day with no issues.
Did you have them as a meal combo or on their own?
Try them again, if you get the same feeling then you’re probably allergic.

On their own. Never had any trouble in the past but it’s been a while since I’ve had them… it could be totally unrelated too, just seems very coincidental.

did you check the ingredients list on the bag? did it say anything other than nuts and salt or whatever?

100% macadamia and nothing else

wait a week, get more and try again. if it comes back, then you know!

If you try them again maybe a different brand in case they “forgot” to mention an preservative or packaging was a problem…

Good point. The headache eased after a few hours thankfully. A quick Google told me this type of nut is a fairly common headache trigger… so I may just avoid on future.

Well I waited this long before trying them again, and think I better avoid them in future… :frowning:

Sorry to hear that. I never knew they could be a trigger.

(Allie) #12

Neither did I until this happened… :frowning:
