Lower sat fat, lower carbs, lower protien and starving

#1

Barely into the “high” category of cholesterol, trying to keep saturated fat lower while staying in ketosis.

Okay so now food is restricted in every direction (used to have unlimited fat on keto, no longer. Few are the zero sat fat sources of fat)

Due to being so restricted in diet, weight is being lost that does not need to be.

The obvious answer is the standard “eat more fat!” but most fat sources are or have saturated fat in them so once the daily fat limit is reached nothing can be eaten.

Can’t eat more meat because that will go over in protein (and sat fat), can’t eat non fatty food because that will go over in carbs.

Where to get calories, then?

Thoughts? Help?

Have you heard about the Feldman protocol? If you’re worried about cholesterol numbers, you ought to have a listen. Poke around through the forum and you’ll find a video.

Thank you. I read up on it. I wonder if it’s actually 100% true? Have any independent studies shared these results?

If so, it is truly amazing. I have been thinking that eating a bunch of saturated fat would tank the test but apparently the opposite is true!

Is it correct to say that someone with a high cholesterol count could have healthy arteries and someone with a healthy cholesterol count could have clogged arteries? Which would of course mean that these numbers are not directly representative of a persons arterial health, albeit they may usually be a good indicator for your average person, there are always exceptions. Yet it seems there may be some debate on how well they represent a ketogenic dieters arterial health.

If so, then of course this would not necessarily indicate that one’s arteries were in good shape since cholesterol count does not directly show whether or not there are problems. However it sure is a start in the direction of thinking differently about the topic!

I doubt you’re going to find independent studies. You might find a few people here who have actually done it.

It is correct to say that someone with high cholesterol could have healthy arteries and someone with a lower (I hesitate to imply that lower is necessarily better) cholesterol could have horrible arterial health. I can just about guarantee that your doctor won’t agree unless they are one of a very rare breed that is actually open to learning new things that might not go in lockstep with their med school training.

YouTube search for Ivor Cummins, Ted Neiman, and Dave Feldman. A few hours there will answer a LOT of your questions.

This book may make you reconsider your concerns about cholesterol and saturated fat.

Going on the list thanks!

I usually send this video to people who say I’m going to have a massive coronary from going keto and eating all that fat.

Good Calories, Bad Calories and Why We Get Fat (both by Gary Taubes) debunk the “science” that blames cholesterol for heart disease. Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz does, as well.

Dr. Phinney explains in many of his recorded lectures that cholesterol is essential for life, being the main constituent of cell walls and the precursor to many important, even essential, hormones. He says that while it is true that cholesterol is found in atherosclerotic plaque, it is also true that fire trucks are found at fires. It is as silly to blame atherosclerosis on cholesterol as it is to blame fires on fire trucks.
